The Lizard.
Lizards are cold blooded reptils with bodies covered with scales belonging to a large group called Squamata. Lizards are found everywhere around the world except Antarctica.
Most lizards 🦎 are not dangerous or harmful to humans but some are. Example of lizards that are potentially harmful are:
- Komodo dragon's bite is serious.
- The Gila monitors is venomous.
- Bearded dragons have a strong bite.
- Some large green Iguanas can bite.
- The green Anole can scratche and bite.
- Prehensile-tailed skinks can bite hard.
Most lizards will avoid any confrontation with a human but if you get too close, or grab it, it may respond by delivering a painful bite or use its talons to scratch you till you let it go.
The Gecko.
The gecko is a type of small-sized lizard. Which belongs to the Gekkonidae family. Geckos are found in places that are warm and tropical. They are well known for their ability to climb walls and ceilings, and their small size. They are harmless to humans and are often kept as pets.
Feeding
Geckos are primarily insectivores. which means their diet consists mainly of insects and other small invertebrates. So they eat crickets, flys, spiders, centipedes and cockroaches.
If you have a geckos as a pet at home, you will have to feed it a diet of live insects, such as:
- Crickets
- Mealworms
- Waxworms
- Superworms
- Roaches
Gecko Myths
The Ibibio people of Akwa Ibom state are very mindful not to harm this small lizards, the Ibibio name for gecko is Ukpong Eyin (meaning the soul of the child) so the Ibibio person will avoid harming a gecko.
Local folklore belive that the movement of a gecko's tail is a message to the household though it come with diffrent interpretation based on the way its tail wiggles.
Steps in drawing the Gecko Lizard
Step1
I had to gather all the necessary materials for drawing this small Lizard.
The materials are:
- A Plain Paper
- A Pencil
- An Eraser
- A Sharpener
- Crayons for colouring
Step 2
After collecting all the necessary materials for today's drawing, I got my blank drawing canvas ready with my gecko's big eyes.
Step 3
I had to draw its forelegs. And the drawing it becoming self expressing even at this point.
Step 4
An this stage, I drew the lizard's tail and finished the framework.
Step 5
I added some details to the eyes and started applying colour to the eye and the back of the Lizard.
Step 6
I added the yellow colour to the belly and under side of the Lizard.
Step 7
With minimal shedding and some additional dots on the back the drawing is ready.
