Hi friends!

When I look at this contest topic, I feel tears rolling down my eyes. I come from a country where nobody cares, where the government cares less for her citizens, where life has become horrible for the citizens, and that is Nigeria.

Nigeria is a country with so many good things and lovely creatures. I loved my country, and I could remember when I was little we sang a marching song that says, "I know a lot about my country. Nigeria, my beloved country, working together is the key."

This song gave me hope as I was growing up, and I believed that my country was indeed a beautiful place to stay. But I was wrong all along. The more I grew, the more things got worse.

Currently in my country, life has been so unbearable for everyone. To eat is a problem because of the high cost of items. What you buy today at #1000 will be sold at #1500 in two days. I wonder how things got out of hand like this, because this was not what we thought it would be.

When I say items, I mean all items, even the least item in the market. If transportation could increase drastically, then food stuffs are not different. Just last week, I went to the market to buy some items to restock my house, and I found out that the list of items I wrote was not important because the prices I put down were all wrong.

Examples of expensive items

ItemsPrice (before)Price (now)Steem price
Yam8004,00020 steem
Beans20008,00040 Steem
Plantain10002500010 Steem
Noddles3,500800040 steem

These prices are overwhelming. The fact is that when the economy in my country is increasing, salary never increases; it remains there. These big men do not have human sympathy at all; they just want you to work and still receive the peanut they pay.

It has not been easy on me because the money I receive is never enough. It has never been enough, but I wish it could be increased. Surviving in Nigeria now is not easy; it's only by the grace of God that people are still leaving. I eat just twice or once in a day just to save money.

If only greed could be cut off from humans, it would do us more good than harm. People just need to love themselves and be in unity with each other before we can get a better headway. Lack of contentment is also part of what has kept us in this mess.

My country has brought nothing but tears to a lot of people. Everyone lives in fear of the unknown because you don't know what tomorrow will bring. I had wished to leave this country for another country where life is a lot better than Nigeria.

I would love to be in the UAE. This country is a very blessed country with all amazing things in it. Life is so good there, and I know that when I get a job offer there, I can pay up my bills and save up. I wish to wake up to another country.

Thank you friends!
