What kind of animal is it?

Seahorses are a type of fish that belong to the genus Hippocampus. They have elongated bodies, a curved neck, a long snout, and a prehensile tail that they use to hold onto objects like seaweed. Seahorses are found in shallow, tropical and temperate waters around the world and are known for their distinctive appearance and unique way of swimming upright.

There's this our family friend that keeps it as pets along side other sea creatures.
So anytime I visit, I see them. But it's been long I visited,so I don't know if they still have it.

What benefits is it to mankind

However, capturing wild seahorses for the aquarium trade can have negative impacts on wild populations, and efforts are being made to promote responsible and sustainable aquaculture methods for breeding seahorses in captivity.

Overall, while seahorses may have cultural and economic value to some humans, their conservation and protection are important to ensure that their populations do not decline further.
