Hello steemians, I'm @wasa2020 from Nigeria. I'm happy to write my entry in this contest today organized by @ruthjoe on the topic To spend or not to spend.

Everybody has different priorities and that is why we tend to have things we feel should be spent on and things that should not be spent. Before I go ahead I want to invite @yakspeace, @dave-hanny, and @josepha to also join this contest today.

Tell us one thing in your country you believe the government should spend money on but doesn't.

Job creation is one thing I think the government should spend money on but they did not. In Nigeria, we see thousands of graduates going into the labor market every day without any hope of a good job because there are no jobs at all.

The government is supposed to produce companies and factories as well as industries where those who are educated should be placed to work after spending a huge amount of money on schooling.

This is not obtainable in Nigeria as politicians who are not even educated are those in charge of the available jobs so they end up giving to only those they want whereas those who genuinely went to school are left with nothing at all.

Tell us one thing they shouldn't spend money on but do.

The spending on occasions or meetings won't benefit the masses. On several occasions have read and heard about budgets made for meetings of senators which they will only spend about 2-3 hours and the allowance that will be given thereafter.

It's always a very huge amount of money that can be very useful in performing a major project within a given community. I think if the politicians are there to serve us then such money shouldn't be spent during such meetings or occasions. A bottle of water is okay for a meeting that won't last more than 3 hours.

Is the government of your country good at providing its citizens with social amenities? Tell us about the two best social amenities you are enjoying in your country.

Well, the government is doing its best I'm sure even though what we are expecting to see is not forthcoming. Here where I stay, we have good roads, electricity, and pipe-bore water. We need more provisions when it comes to food and other things like farming tools.

So for the two best social amenities we are enjoying currently, they are electricity and water. I'm so happy that they were able to provide this for us and it has been of significant help to everyone. We pay for all of these but the joy is that we get it when due.
