Cryptocurrency was birthed with the aim of becoming a better option than what Fiat offered. Unfortunately, as the crypto technology advanced, it became increasing unpredictable as well as very risky. We have heard stories of a lot of persons who lost every coin they have in their wallet for just mistakenly clicking on the wrong link.

When we compare the advantages that cryptocurrency offers with it's disadvantages, we cannot advocate for the suspension of cryptocurrency, as cryptocurrency is far more advantageous. The crypto world offers a whole range of opportunities than what the Fiat financial world offers. The only thing we can do is learn how to manage it's flaws, as well as take every caution to ensure that we don't lose our hard earned finances.

In this post, we will be discussing some tips on how to stay safe while you carry out your crypto activities.

1. Ensure that you use a separate wallet when participating on airdrops and bounties:-

We have heard a lot of stories of people who got their cryptocurrency wallet wiped clean by hackers. When you begin to trace how they lost their money, you always here stuffs like they participated in an airdrop or a bounty challenge and after that, they no longer had control of their wallet.

This is not to say that all airdrops or bounties are scam, or an attempts to hack your wallet. But it's advisable that if you intend on participating, you should use a wallet that you have dedicated for such activities. Do not use the same wallet you use for main transactions in participating in airdrops or bounty challange. Especially those one that request that you connect your wallet to any third party App. This wallet should not hold any asset. In case you don't have a wallet that doesn't hold your valuable assets, you can create a new wallet from the comfort of your home.

Another important tip is to ensure that when creating a new wallet, do not use the same or similar detail you used in creating your main wallet in creating the wallet you wish to use for airdrops. As these scammers sometimes try out password that are similar to the ones that obtained from airdrops and other scam projects.

2. Avoid any airdrop that requests you Pay a certain amount before you receive it:

Any airdrop that tells you that you should pay a certain amount before you receiving some tokens, just know that it's a scam. Think of it for a moment. If it's actually free, why are you asked to pay? Most times, those airdrop scams that ask you to pay always have proofs of people that paid and after, they received airdrops worth more than what they paid for. But if you ask them to take out, from the airdrop the amount that they want you to pay, and give you the rest as airdrop, they will blantly refuse.

Therefore, once you notice any project in which this format is used, stay clear from it.

3. Don't expose the details of your wallet to anyone:-

The details of your wallet are like your password. I'm sure we all have younger ones who may have seen us type our phone password, while trying to unlock our phones. What happens immediately after the moment they have known our password is that they unlock our phone any time they wish too. Most times, they won't ask if your opinion before they do so.

This same thing applies when we don't ensure that the details of our password is kept safe. One day, we will discover that someone has wipe our account completely. Every wallet has mnemonics, key phrases, 2FA, passwords etc and no legit account will ask you for these details before you can receive airdrops. Any app, airdrop, crypto service provider, or agent that asks you of any of these has an intent to scam you. So Run.

Thank You.
