Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 19: The Boarding School Effects on Children

Hello amazing steemians, it's my joy to be a participant on this amazing contest organized by @steem4nigeria. Students are usually grouped into two due to their habitat; Day students and boarders. A popular myth which say "Boarders have tough time to adapt to the outside world" is somehow true or false. In this content, let's find out.

Actually, I haven't been to a boarding school but I do have a neighbour who is a boarder in a secondary school. His experience is not really bad as I do thought. The secondary boarding school he attends has a strict set of rules which boarders has to obey. His boarding life is not so bad. Bullying as I do hear is not really there but there is discipline in the school. His experience as he narrated is generally good.

Personally, I won't send my future kids to any boarding school. Not that the issues of bullying and other bad vices is what am fearing but there are more things to that. My reason is that children must understand the parents in their childhood stage. The proper understanding of the parents by the children is achieved when the latter is close to the former. When the children are boarders, they feel little or no warmth from the parents. Another reason is that they must know the philosophy of the parents. In general, I want them to feel my warmth and understand my philosophy.

Pertaining to this question, I think the victim are usually boarders in a single gender schools either girls or boys only. The boarders in a coeducational school may not have any issues about this. So, my aim is on the single gender school's boarders. If their boarder is released into the outside world, he/she will have difficulty in communicating with the opposite gender. Some of them don't have issues on this but most of them do have. This boarder will lack communication skills to the other gender.

Boarding school is known to have a standard of learning to her students. But, I'll say that it might be of average help to the students if he/she goes to the outside world. Education at home really give us a detailed explanation of the outside world. Then, boarding school gives a detailed explanation of the school curriculum.

Discipline in boarding school is top notch and recommendable but there is a vital thing that they are lacking. This factor is named "The Philosophy of the Parents". I can defined this as the principles or rules they (the parents) followed to reach their current stage. It is important to pass your vital philosophy to your children. Apart from discipline, this is what should be passed to the future generation and the generation after it.
