Background Story
Hanzo Hasashi, popularly known as Scorpion from the Mortal Kombat franchise grew into prominence in the game because he became a fan favourite, and phased out the interest in Lui Kang.
According to the mortal Kombat canon in Mortal Kombat: Scorpion's revenge, Hanzo or Scorpion as he's popularly called was the leader of the Shirai Ryu group somewhere in the Earth Realm. He was a really good Martial Artist, but also a loving father and husband. He was deceived by the Quanchi into believing that Sub Zero of the Lin Quei carried out the massacre of his kin. Fuelled by rage, he lashed out on the Lin Quei soldiers he met there and killed many of them, only to be defeated by Sub Zero(Who was actually just the shape-shifting Quanchi).
After Scorpions death, he descended in the underworld, where he met Quanchi after defeating numerous demons in the way. This time, Quanchi was wearing his actual face and continued the deception by offering the enraged Ninja an "Olive Branch" of sorts. It seemed like a "fair trade"; do my bidding and I'll give you the opportunity to carry out revenge on the Lin Quei.
It is a tragic story that ends with him killing Sub Zero and then realising he had been fooled all along. Scorpion ends up being remorseful for his actions against the innocent Sub Zero and then vows to protect Sub Zero's Brother and family to atone for his sins. However, this rage-filled zombie ass-kicker still has a score to settle with Quanchi and seeks to exert vengeance, while roaming the World and doing as many good deeds as he can.
Oh, and did I mention his deceased son's name is Satoshi? Scorpion might even be the Grandfather of Bitcoin.
Abilities
Scorpion is a skilled fighter capable of using different forms of martial arts. He's very capable in hand to hand combat, and can go up against people like Liu Kang, Rayden and thousands of demons.
When he's not breaking skulls with his hands, he likes to use a Katana for closed range battles. He normally prefers slicing and dicing his opponents in battle.
He's equally dangerous in mid-range situations because first of all, he has those harpoons he uses to impale or sometimes to pull his opponent close to him for some slicing and dicing. That's where the popular phrase "GET OVER HERE!!!" comes from.
Not very pretty
Owing to his training as a Shirai Ryu, he's also basically a ninja, so he's very nimble and can employ stealth when situations require. He usually combines this training with his ability to teleport in between short distances to achieve his dastardly bidding.
Fitting into the game
This is totally hypothetical of course but it is very common to have game combinations like this. For example, in Mortal Kombat X, Kratos(God of War) and Darth Vader(From Star wars) were all characters. I have also played Street Fighter vs Tekken where characters from both franchises met, and I'm sure there are others out there.
Mortal Kombat has a huge fanbase, so throwing a popular character like this would be really awesome for Splinterlands. Perhaps the writers of Splinterlore could somehow squeeze in The Lord of Darkness into Scorpion's lore, considering he's spent a lot of time in the Nether Realm, which is Mortal Kombat's version of the underworld.
Fitting into Death Splinter
Considering he's from the underworld and how badass he is, he would naturally be a legendary monster of the death splinter persuasion. His ability in close combat means he would pack a mean punch in close range battles, but should also have reach ability since he does damage from a little bit far away from the frontline.
Speed should also not be an issue for this guy, considering he's a ninja, so I say we put him at around 5 or 6 speed when he's maxed out. Also, owing to the fact that he's pretty much a zombie, he doesn't die easily and heals fast, so he deserves to have the self healing ability. Since he teleports over short distances, adding the dodge ability seems right and because he gets more aggressive when angered, he should have that rage ability when maxed out.
Weakness
Magic has proven to be his weakness in countless situations. His current predicament was because he didn't have a discerning eye to see through the trick. Depending on the Canon you've seen, you'd find that he had actually been killed a couple of times by Sub Zero, but always came back, since he's basically dead
