As the date of our journey home from Australia to Germany is getting closer and closer, I am slowly starting to look forward to all the things I haven't had in the past months. Nothing is missing here in Australia, but there are only a few things at home. After almost a year the desire for one or the other thing grows extremely.
Da das Datum unserer Heimreise von Australien nach Deutschland immer näher rückt, fange ich so langsam an mich auf all die Sachen zu freuen die ich die vergangenen Monate nicht hatte. Hier in Australien fehlt es mir zwar an nichts, doch einige Dinge gibt es eben nur zu hause. Nach fast einem Jahr wächst die Sehnsucht nach der ein oder anderen Sache schon extrem.
What most people miss when traveling is their own family. Nothing and nobody in the world can replace this and even if you can have regular contact via messenger and even video chat these days, the family will be missing at some point.
Although we only had a visit from my mother at the beginning of the year and it was not that long ago that we saw her, we miss her very much. She turned 70 this year and is no longer the fittest in health, which is why I am very happy about our decision to go back home.
Unfortunately my family is not quite as big as it used to be, but I see that here the same way as with friends. It doesn't matter how many you have, but how good that relationship with them is.
Das, was wohl die meisten Menschen auf Reisen vermissen ist die eigene Familie. Nichts und niemand auf der Welt kann dies ersetzen und auch wenn man heut zu tage regelmäßigen Kontakt über messenger und sogar Videochat haben kann, fehlt einem die Familie irgendwann.
Obwohl wir anfangs des Jahres erst besuch von meiner mutter hatten und es somit noch gar nicht so lange her ist dass wir sie gesehen haben, vermissen wir sie sehr. Sie ist dieses Jahr 70 geworden und gesundheitlich nicht mehr die aller fitteste, weswegen ich sehr froh bin über unsere Entscheidung zurück nach hause zu gehen.
Leider ist meine Familie nicht mehr ganz so groß wie sie einmal war, jedoch sehe ich dass hier genau so wie mit freunden. es kommt nicht darauf an wie viele man hat, sondern wie gut dass Verhältnis zu ihnen ist.
And that's the next point, friends. I'm always looking forward to seeing all my friends again. When we travel, we always get to know great people with whom we are in contact to this day. Here in Australia we now have a close circle of friends. But none of it replaces long friendships that you have at home.
Und das ist auch schon der nächste Punkt, Freunde. Darauf, all meine Freunde wieder zu sehen, freue ich mich jedes mal mit am meisten. Auf Reisen lernen wir immer wieder tolle Menschen kennen mit denen wir bis heute in Kontakt sind. Hier in Australien haben wir mittlerweile einen engen Freundeskreis. Doch nichts davon ersetzt jahrzente lange Freundschaften die man zu hause hat.
For some years now we have hardly been spending any time in Germany and are constantly on the go around the world, one thing that I really miss is the German food. Today almost everything is available in every country and sometimes even special things that you only got at home in the past, such as Pretzels. But no matter how hard the bakers around the world try, nowhere do the pretzels taste as good as in Germany. In fact, the first thing I eat in Germany every time is a pretzel at the airport.
But I'm not only looking forward to the pretzels, but also to all the other delicious ones that have been denied to me for almost 1 year. There would be e.g. my favorite doner kebab or a decent potato salad
Seit einigen Jahren verbringen wir kaum noch zeit in Deutschland und sind ständig in der welt unterwegs, eine Sache die ich dabei sehr vermissen ist das deutsche essen. heut zu tage bekommt fast alles in jedem land und manchmal sogar spezielle Dinge die man früher nur zu hause bekommen hat, wie z.B. Brezeln. Aber so sehr sich die Bäcker weltweit auch bemühen, nirgendwo schmecken die Brezeln so gut wie in Deutschland. Tatsächlich ist dass das erste was ich in Deutschland jedes mal essen, eine Brezel am flughafen.
aber ich freue mich nicht nur auf die Brezeln sondern auch auf all die anderen Leckereien die mir fast 1 Jahr lang verwehrt blieben. Da wären z.B. mein Liebliengsdöner oder ein ordentlicher Kartoffelsalat
And last but not least, it's the new adventures I'm looking forward to, because after the trip is always before the trip.
Our plans are constantly changing, which is also the good thing about our way of life. however, as with everyone else, corona has caused a little too much change, which is why we have to completely reschedule our lives. from now on it's no longer about half the world by plane, but for an indefinite time by car through Europe. our first stop is expected to be Portugal and who knows, maybe it will be the last, because after all the years of traveling, our desire to have our own home is growing.
Time will tell how it goes on
Und zu guter letzt sind es die neuen Abenteuer auf die ich mich freue, denn nach der Reise ist immer auch vor der Reise.
Unsere Pläne ändern sich ständig, was ja auch das Gute an unserer Art zu leben ist. Jedoch hat corona wie bei allen anderen auch für ein wenig zu viel Veränderung gesorgt weshalb wir unser Leben komplett umplanen müssen. Von nun an geht es erstmal nicht mehr mit dem Flugzeug um die halbe Welt sondern für unabsehbare Zeit mit dem Auto durch Europa. Unser erster Stop wird voraussichtlich Portugal und wer weiß, vielleicht wird es ja auch der Letzte, denn nach all den Jahren des Reisens wächst unser Wunsch nach einem eigenen Zuhause.

Your post reminded me that this was to be the year I traveled again. I had planned to visit China, with a stop back in Germany along the way. Coronavirus happened just as I was formulating those plans. Yes, time will tell. :)
