Si eres nuevo por acá déjame decirte que lo que te mostraré a continuación es un proyecto de reparación y pintura automotriz que realizamos en equipo en nuestro lugar de trabajo hace aproximadamente unos 15 días, en esta oportunidad lo que tuvimos que hacer fue reemplazar y pintar una de las piezas frontales de un vehículo

It is for this reason that today I want to take the opportunity to share this process with you, first of all let me show you the defect that the car has

This is another challenge for the team, our objective in this project is to leave this car as new

To start this project, the first thing we did was remove the front bumper of the car, this is important because that way we can see how serious the internal damage is

Para comenzar este proyecto, lo primero que hicimos fue quitar el parachoques delantero del automóvil, esto es importante porque de esa manera podemos ver qué tan grave es el daño interno

Fortunately, auto parts are inexpensive and since the cost of repair is close to the cost of the new part, in this case the decision was made to replace the affected part with a completely new one

Afortunadamente los repuestos de automóvil son económicos y dado que el costo de reparación es aproximado al costo de la pieza nueva en este caso se tomó la decisión de reemplazar la pieza afectada por una completamente nueva

When I received the new part, the first thing I did was dry sand it with the help of a fine sandpaper to create a rough surface so that a product that I need to apply to the surface of the same has adhesion

Cuando recibí la nueva parte, lo primero que hice fue lijarla en seco con la ayuda de un papel de lija fino para crear una superficie rugosa para que el producto que necesito aplicar a la superficie de la misma tenga adherencia

and I took the opportunity to cover with paper the parts that we are not going to paint

y aproveché para cubrir con papel las partes que no vamos a pintar

the product to which I am referring is called a primer and it is a liquid product that is applied with the help of a paint gun and an air compressor this product has a drying time of approximately 2 hours and once it is dry it is smoothed the surface and does not serve as a base to apply the paint on it

el producto al que me refiero se llama imprimación y es un producto líquido que se aplica con la ayuda de una pistola de pintura y un compresor de aire. Este producto tiene un tiempo de secado de aproximadamente 2 horas y una vez que está seco se alisa superficie y no sirve como base para aplicarle la pintura

So after several minutes I had the piece completely covered with the mentioned product

Now was the time to take the opportunity to correct a small defect that had one of the parts near the front bumper of the car, in this case my colleague collaborated by sanding the surface with the help of an abrasive sandpaper so that the putty had adhesion

Ahora era el momento de aprovechar la oportunidad para corregir un pequeño defecto que tenía una de las partes cerca del parachoques delantero del automóvil, en este caso, mi colega colaboró ​​lijando la superficie con la ayuda de un papel de lija abrasivo para que la masilla tuviera adherencia

If you are wondering what putty is? Let me tell you that it is a product made up of two separate components that once mixed hardens after a few minutes and then with the help of sandpaper I can give it the proper shape

after this I only had to wait several minutes for the product to dry by chemical reaction and with the help of various sandpaper I was able to give it the proper shape

As we can see below, it is clearly seen that the defect that it had now is completely corrected

Now friends, what I had to do was start to cover with paper the parts that I do not want to stain and I say this because that moment of applying the product called primer on the putty that I just sanded

Now we are ready to apply a product called primer and let's not forget that this product has an approximate drying time of 2 hours

This product apart from serving as a base to apply the paint on it also helps us to seal moisture on the surface where we are applying it

So now what you had to do was wait for this product to dry and then, with the help of fine sandpaper, be able to sand to soften it

After the waiting time, this product was completely dry. So I took advantage of removing all the papers that I had originally placed to start the sanding process

after several minutes I finished the sanding process and of course sand the entire piece because it is necessary to paint it all

So now was the time to start sanding down the front bumper that was exposed to sunlight to speed up the drying process

after this it was time to wash the pieces to enter it into the paint booth completely clean and dry to start covering with paper the parts that were intact so as not to stain them with paint

luego de esto era el momento de lavar las piezas para ingresarla a la cabina de pintura completamente limpias y secas para comenzar a cubrir con papel las partes qué estaban intactas para no manchar las con pintura

So in this way we start the painting process of this car, to make sure that it is free of any type of contamination, I took the opportunity to degrease it using a traditional soap

Entonces, de esta manera, comenzamos el proceso de pintura de este automóvil, para asegurarme de que esté libre de cualquier tipo de contaminación, aproveché la oportunidad para desengrasarlo con un jabón tradicional

what I did next was to start to cover the entire car with a paper so as not to stain any of the parts that are totally intact

This process takes me about 40 minutes but it is vitally important since through this we make sure to preserve the pieces that we are not going to paint

Este proceso me lleva unos 40 minutos, pero es de vital importancia ya que a través de esto nos aseguramos de preservar las piezas que no vamos a pintar

Now it was time to start applying the paint on the parts to start covering the color of the car. For this it was necessary to apply four coats of paint

Now as a final step it is time to apply a product called varnish in which it is the one that gives the shine to the paint. This product is also liquid and is applied with the help of an air compressor, a paint gun and has a drying time. 24 hours

in this way we conclude the painting process. Now we just have to wait a period of 24 hours for the varnish to dry and be able to assemble the front bumper in the car

and when it is dry we can start the Polishing process

y cuando está seco podemos comenzar el proceso de pulido

The next day I started to sand the piece we painted with the help of very fine sandpaper to give it a much smoother finish, this is how the completely sanded piece looks

Al día siguiente comencé a lijar la pieza que pintamos con la ayuda de papel de lija muy fino para darle un acabado mucho más suave, así es como se ve la pieza completamente lijada

Now is the time to start polishing the sanded part for this use, a polishing machine

Ahora es el momento de comenzar a pulir la parte lijada para esto uso, una máquina pulidora

Little by little I was advancing

and after finishing the Polishing process I started to assemble the front bumper of the car

This takes me about 15 minutes

Esto me lleva unos 15 minutos

This is what it looks like now in the car fully armed

Now it only remains to wash the car completely to deliver it totally impeccable

Now if the car is completely finished and looks very good, now we can only wait for the owners to come and get it
