Espero que todos se encuentren bien y estén pasando sus días de aislamiento, de la mejor manera posible. En esta oportunidad les traigo otra vivencia, al educar a mis hijas en cuarentena. Debo reconocer, que esta semana las actividades escolares estuvieron relativamente fáciles. Pero hace unas semanas, si estuve en apuros, pero como Dios siempre mete su mano, me libré y bastante fácil, para ser sincera.

I must admit, this week's school activities were relatively easy. But a few weeks ago, if I was in trouble, but as God always puts his hand in, I was free and quite easy, to be honest.

En esa oportunidad, mi hija tenía que realizar un papagayo o cometa, Dios, tremendo predicamento. Ni su papá, ni yo, teníamos idea de cómo construirlo, al menos uno que técnicamente este bien elaborado, para que sea aerodinámico. Se que algunos al leer, dirán, ¡qué horror no saben hacer una cometa!, ¡no tuvieron infancia!... Y si, si tuvimos infancia, y la disfrutamos mucho. Pero yo prefería jugar con muñecas, y en el caso de mi esposo, los juegos al aire libre no eran sus preferidos. En definitiva, aunque acudiéramos a la fuente de todo el conocimiento, me refiero a la internet, jajaja, igual no teníamos todos los materiales para hacerlo.

At that time, my daughter had to perform a kite, God, tremendous predicament. Neither her father, nor I, had any idea how to build it, at least one that is technically well made, so that it is aerodynamic. I know that some people when they read, will say, how awful they don't know how to make a kite, they didn't have a childhood!... And yes, we did have a childhood, and we enjoyed it very much. But I preferred to play with dolls, and in my husband's case, outdoor games were not his favorite. In short, even if we went to the source of all knowledge, I mean the internet, hahaha, we still didn't have all the materials to do it.

Pero como les dije, esta vez corrimos con suerte, resulta que recordé, que en nuestro garaje teníamos uno. El esposo de mi hermana, lo había realizado precisamente para mi hija mayor en una oportunidad que nos habían venido a visitar, ellos viven en otro estado. En frente de mi casa, queda una plaza más o menos grande, hay espacio para volar cometas y a mi cuñado le encanta hacerlos y volarlos, así que aprovechó la oportunidad. Recuerdo, que esa tarde la disfrutaron mucho viendo volar la cometa. Pero, cuando se fueron, como no sabemos volarla, no la usamos más, lo sé, debería darnos vergüenza. Ni modo, el caso es, que, en esta oportunidad precisamente, esa cometa soluciono nuestro inconveniente, de falta de material.

But like I said, this time we were lucky, I happen to remember, that we had one in our garage. My sister's husband had made it just for my eldest daughter on one occasion when they had come to visit us, they live in another state. In front of my house, there is a square more or less big, there is space to fly kites and my brother-in-law loves to make them and fly them, so he took the opportunity. I remember, that afternoon they enjoyed very much watching the kite fly. But, when they left, as we don't know how to fly it, we don't use it anymore, I know, we should be ashamed. No way, the fact is that, in this opportunity, that kite solved our inconvenience, of lack of material.

La cometa, estaba bastante feíta, a pesar de estar bajo techo, le había caído mucho polvo y el papel de ceda se había decolorado. Pero, la armazón que era lo que nos interesaba, porque no teníamos material para hacerla, estaba intacta. En esta oportunidad, mi hija realizo la actividad con la ayuda de su papi, aparentemente fue sencillo, solo quitaron el papel viejo con mucho cuidado y limpiaron las varillas. Luego volvieron a armar el armazón y reemplazaron el papel de seda y los hilos guías, en donde se fija el hilo para sostenerlo y colocaros una cola nueva. Y con esos pequeños cambios ya tenían un nuevo papagayo, listo para presentarlo a su maestra. Creo que después de esta situación de cuarentena, definitivamente tendremos que tomar ese papagayo y aprender a volarlo junto a nuestras adoradas hijas.

The kite, it was quite ugly, even though it was under a roof, it had been dusty and the tissue paper had faded. But the frame, which was what interested us, because we had no material to make it, was intact. This time, my daughter did the activity with the help of her daddy, apparently it was simple, they just removed the old paper very carefully and cleaned the rods. Then they reassembled the frame and replaced the tissue paper and the guide wires, where the thread is fixed to hold it and put a new glue. And with those little changes they had a new parrot, ready to be presented to their teacher. I think that after this quarantine situation, we will definitely have to take that parrot and learn to fly it with our beloved daughters.

Pero, no crean que me salve, por completo me tocó trabajar con mi hija menor. Resulta que esa semana, se celebraba el DÍA DEL PANAMERICANISMO. Sus maestras de preescolar, solicitaron que debíamos realiza alguna actividad para conmemorar ese día. Las opciones eran, hacer alguna comida típica, de unos de los países que conforman nuestra gran América. Otra, construir un atuendo o vestimenta típica de algunos de los países, con lo que tuviésemos en casa. Y Finalmente hacer un dibujo relacionado con ese tema, esta última opción era la que más me atraía en un principio. Pero si les soy sincera, en realidad no me convencía del todo, como dice mi esposo, me gusta complicar un poco más las cosas.

But, don't think I'm saved, I'm completely stuck with my youngest daughter. As it turns out, that week was Pan American Day. Her preschool teachers requested that we do something to commemorate the day. The options were, to make some typical food, of one of the countries that conform our great America. Another option was to make a typical dress from one of the countries that make up our great America. And finally to make a drawing related to that theme, this last option was the one that attracted me the most at first. But if I'm honest, I wasn't really convinced, as my husband says, I like to complicate things a bit more.

Mi cabeza seguía maquinando una mejor opción, una noche, entre vueltas y vueltas intentando conciliar el sueño, llego la solución. Recordé que mi hija mayor tiene un traje típico venezolano, se lo realice hace algunos años para un acto escolar. Me dije, como no lo pensé antes, creo que la cuarentena, me tiene reaccionando un poco lento, jajajajaja. El caso es, que le quedaba grandísimo, solo la camisa le llegaba casi a los tobillos y ni les cuento la falda. Pero lo resolví, haciendo algunos sencillos ajustes, sin tener que modificar de manera permanente. Y como ven en la imagen que les comparto así quedo finalmente el atuendo completo para celebrar el DÍA DE LAS AMÉRICAS, espero les guste. Para mi tranquilidad, salimos bien librados de otro VIERNES CREATIVOS. Por favor, cuídense mucho y si pueden manténganse en sus casitas.

My head was still plotting a better option, one night, between turns and turns trying to fall asleep, the solution came. I remembered that my eldest daughter has a typical Venezuelan suit, she had it made some years ago for a school event. I said to myself, as I didn't think about it before, I think that the quarantine, has me reacting a little slow, hahahaha. The thing is, it fit him very well, only the shirt was almost at his ankles and I don't even count the skirt. But I solved it, making some simple adjustments, without having to permanently modify it. And as you can see in the image, I share with you, I finally got the complete outfit to celebrate the DAY OF THE AMERICAS, I hope you like it.
