Saludos amigos de los cactus y suculentas.

Tengo tres cactus que son los mayores, entre todos los que cultivo. El mayor de ellos es esta Euphorbia Lactea. Llamada así por su capacidad de emanar una sustancia como látex, pegajosa, y de color blanco. Muy tóxica. Tiene varios años de edad. La sembré siendo una pequeña porción de unos 10 cm de tamaño. En una pequeña maceta pasó muchos años. Hasta que ahora se ubica en el piso.

I have three cacti that are the largest, among all the ones I grow. The biggest of them is this Euphorbia Lactea. Named for its ability to emanate a substance such as latex, sticky, and white in color. Very toxic. He is several years old. I planted it being a small portion about 10 cm in size. He spent many years in a small pot. Until now it is located on the floor.

La Euphorbia Cristata Lactea tiene estas inflorescencias en toda su porción apical. Porque está expuesta al sol, toma esta coloración roja.

The Euphorbia Cristata Lactea has these inflorescences throughout its apical portion. Because it is exposed to the sun, it takes on this red coloration.

A través del tiempo saqué pequeños esquejes de su cuerpo y los sembré. Cada cual adquiere características particulares, como si no vienen de una misma madre. Estos pequeños están en semisombra, aunque crecen igual a su madre, tienen en su porción superior inflorescencias verdes.

Over time I took small cuttings from his body and planted them. Each one acquires particular characteristics as if they did not come from the same mother. These little ones are in semi-shade, although they grow just like their mother, they have green inflorescences on their upper portion.

Este es el más pequeño. Solo porque fue desprendido, y quiero pensar que fue accidentalmente durante la noche. En una de las peleas de los gatos que visitan mi jardín. Tiene el mismo tamaño ahora que el que tenía la planta madre, cuando comencé a cultivarla.

This is the smallest. Just because it came off, and I want to think it was accidentally during the night. In one of the cat fights that visit my garden. It is the same size now as the mother plant had when I started growing it.

Esta Opuntia, el Nopal. Tiene varios años conmigo, ya no recuerdo cuando lo sembré. Lo que sí recuerdo es que era solo una penca de un árbol, igual a este ahora. Lo sembré en una maceta y de allí siguió creciendo hasta que ya no lo pude mantener en maceta y pasó al piso. Ahora está al lado de mi puerta del garaje, cual vigilante protector, se yergue muy orgulloso.

El opuntia no tiene en mi jardín ningún hijuelo, como esqueje. No es un cactus muy solicitado. Igual yo lo amo y tiene mi consentimiento.
Este año por primera vez, da sus primeras flores y frutos. No son muy grandes, algo le falta a su tierra. Los frutos son pequeños y delgados, pero rojos, muy rojos en su interior y jugosos.

This Opuntia, the Nopal. It has several years with me, I no longer remember when I planted it. What I do remember is that it was just a piece of a tree, just like this one now. I planted it in a pot and from there it continued to grow until I could no longer keep it in a pot and it went to the ground. Now he is next to my garage door, like a protective guard, he stands proud.

The opuntia does not have any children in my garden, like cuttings. It is not a highly requested cactus. I love him anyways and he has my consent.
This year, for the first time, it gives its first flowers and fruits. They are not very big, something is missing from their land. The fruits are small and thin, but red, very red inside and juicy.

Mi tercer cactus, el menor de los dos anteriores. Es una haworthia Limifolia. Esta suculenta tiene ya conmigo más de ocho años. Sus hojas son gruesas y rígidas. Presentan en la superficie muchas rugosidades que le dan el nombre de Piel de Cocodrilo. Son de pequeño tamaño, no superan los 10 cm. Sus flores son inflorescencias que salen de una vara floral central.

My third cactus, the smaller of the previous two. It is a Limifolia haworthia. This succulent is already with me for more than eight years. Its leaves are thick and stiff. They present on the surface many roughnesses that give it the name of Crocodile Skin. They are small, they do not exceed 10 cm. Its flowers are inflorescences that come out of a central floral stick.

Tengo varios esquejes que a través de su gran proliferación le saqué. Desde hace mucho tiempo esta pequeña planta me dio más de 20 hijuelos.

I have several cuttings that through its great proliferation I removed. For a long time this little plant gave me more than 20 children.

La siembra y cultivo de cactus y suculentas, no ocasionan grandes preocupaciones. Estos para su manipulación necesita que tomemos ciertas previsiones, para nuestra protección. Luego tendremos nuestra recompensa.
