GETTING STARTED

This morning i woke up with the urge to write something--anything. So i have been in limbo for the past two or three days. My mood hasn't been so great and I have been struggling with simple tasks I would ordinarily do without much thought. This is the result of overwhelming myself with many things simultaneously.

ACT OF PROCRASTINATING

I think one of the major reasons why people never get any work done is because they spend so much thinking, planning, and being overwhelmed by the plethora of things that need to be done. Yes, it good to have things planned things out and look for potential loop-holes but sometimes it does come at the expenses of the task itself. Take for example hive. Many people share ideas on how to move the blockchain forward, and we've spent years talking about these things, but when it comes to taking action we find fewer persons doing something tangible. There is always some form of disagreement or resistance as regards methods and often than not, those who have issues with the supposed methods never come up with superior methods themselves that are executable.

Some of the best decision I have made in my lie has been intuitive and on the stop. They often come at a cost but mostly I achieved my supposed goal. Could there have been a better way of going about it? Yes, but i may have had the will-power to commit to it.

It is a known fact that that people tend to continue with a project or plan once they've started because they consider the sunk-cost--the time and resources put into a supposed project. Rather than watch it go to waste they continue. This can be a good or bad thing even your approach. Good in the sense that it can get you started and committed to a task given that you've invested considerable time and effort in it and bad in the sense that you can get stuck in a bad idea.

My major challenge this morning was coming up with a 500words post that captured my thoughts and ideas this morning and i had spent more than 30minues prepping and still could not bring myself to writing anything because i had micro ideas. I wanted to talk about some of the community incentives coming up on hive-naija; i wanted to talk about relationships, and i wasn't going to touch on any of these things because i couldn't bring myself to picking one or having a well-defined idea in my mind to talk about. Then i remember how most of the decent things i have written here have been spontaneous idea i penned down in an hour or two, and here i am with actually about my struggles which are in contrast to the ideas i have. It works this way with a lot of things in life. When you set out to do something rather than waiting or using your supposed attention to details as an excuse to stay inactive, you tend to discover new ideas as you go. The most important thing is that you set things in motion.

In conclusion, if you do have any task you have been putting aside for a long time now, i think this is the right time to get things started. You might not have all the answers but taking the conscious step to get things rolling might help you figure out the things that have kept you inactive.
