I JUST REDID ALL MY ARROWS, SO I'M READY WHEN THEY ARE

I've been meaning to do this for a while now.

When using arrows to shoot fish, damage can be done. Of course part of the point is that damage would be done to the fish, but the arrows can break too. From metal tips dulling, nocks breaking off, and even arrows snapping, eventually you can end up with quite a pile of busted arrows. Recently I invested the time to fix up all the arrows I could, and I was rather impressed.

FIXING UP THE BOWFISHING ARROWS

The tips for some bowfishing arrows are replaceable. When we are shooting suckers especially, the tips get damaged because they are in shallow water with a rock bottom, and launching arrows straight into rocks dulls the tips quickly. I spent a while with a grinder wheel bringing all the tips I had to a point.

Now that I'm shooting large carp on a sand or gravel bottom, and trying to pierce the thick scales of the gar, sharp tips are going to help. Every arrow in my collection has now been ground to a fine point, which should definitely help with penetration.

Each arrow is now tipped, and I've got a handful of replacements. That way I don't need to switch arrows if a tip gets dull, but instead I'll just pop a new tip on. Honestly, I should have done this a long time ago, but either way, I'm glad to have it done.

These nocks are pretty durable, but once again it was the rocks during sucker hunting that took their toll on my arrows. When an arrow blasts into a rock with extreme force, sometimes the whole nock with explode, or at least part of it will break, leaving the arrow unusable and unable to sit properly on the bowstring.

When searching through items I had, I found a small box of the nocks which not only allowed me to fix all of my arrows with broken nocks, but also repair one for a friend. I've even got a few left over. This too was a long time coming, as I had an entire pile of unusable arrows that I was carrying around.

When you see a bowcase like this, you'll notice that I have a lot of bowfishing arrows. Honestly, it's $100s of dollars worth if I was to purchase them all retail. Hopefully I won't need to buy more anytime soon, and by repairing the ones I just did the collection is all the more impressive. I consider resources like this arrow collection to be an investment, and not only does it get used to provide food for my family, but the families of others too, as friends and family have access to my arsenal and experience. Now I just need to wait on the weather to cooperate. See you next time! Papa out!

Until next time…
