Bananas are everywhere. From childhood to adulthood. From kindergarten to old age homes. From sports person to prison inmate. Bananas have invaded us. Jokes apart the reason we see the all pervading presence of bananas is because they are relatively easy to grow and are indigenous to most parts of the world. Its an excellent source of instant energy. They are great for the health and include many vitamins and minerals. They are also rich in fibers. Finally they taste great.
Now while we all have had ripe bananas , using raw bananas is something that is not very common. Today I am going to share with you recipe for Raw Bananas. This is a very popular recipe in India. It's nutritious , Vegan and Yum !
Ingredients
2 Raw Bananas Chopped
2 Green Chillis Chopped / 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
8-10 Curry Leaves
1 medium Onion chopped
2 Grated Cloves of Garlic / 1/2 tsp Garlic paste
1/2 inch Grated Ginger / 1/2 tsp Ginger paste
1 tsp Urad Dal
1/2 tsp Haldi / Turmeric powder
1/2 tsp Sarso / Mustard
1/2 tsp Jeera / Cumin Seeds
1/2 tsp Garam Masala/ Indian Masala
1/2 Salt / Salt as per taste.
2 tsp oil
The Recipe
Wash the Banana, Peel and Chop the Banana into Small pieces.
Use blender to make a paste of ginger, garlic and chillis. Set aside.
Pulse the onion coarsely also nicely in the mixer.
Heat a pan with a spoon of oil on high flame.
When the oil heats up add the Cumin seeds, Mustard and Urad Dal. Fry till the Dal is brown in color. Then add curry leaves
Then add the Ginger Garlic CHilli paste and cook for 30 secs.
Now add the chopped Bananas.
Sprinkle the Haldi / Turmeric powder on top and mix well.
Cook for a few mins and then add the salt and mix well.
Lower the flame to low-medium and cook till they are soft and juicy.
Now increase to high flame again and add the Onions. Cook untill they start to turn brown.
Bring to low flame and add the Garam masala and Red Chilli (If using).Mix well and fry for a couple of mins.
Serve with Rice, Roti or have it as a snack!

There ! Yum Nice juicy and healthy raw banana fries. This dish is very healthy and can be consumed by everyone. From a regular gym going health nut to a bid-ridden patient this works for all. Not to mention the fabulous taste.
