MAJOR DIFFERENCES:
- The main difference of the two is that, Steem was launch way back 2016 while Hive was recently launch this year, March 22, 2020 via Steem blockchain hardfork(Initiated by the community witnesses believing that the steem is no longer decentralized) More info on that issue here: Steemit and here Hive
- STEEM is governed by one single entity(Justin Sun of Tron Foundation) and deemed to be now as a centralized blockchain; while HIVE is governed by community witnesses, developers and businessmen.
- Blockchain Development - Steem has a supposedly funds for development which is often called by the community as the ninja-mined stakes of Steeemit Inc, but now bought and acquired by Justin Sun; while on Hive, that funds is no longer in possession of a single man instead, they put it on Hive DAO with the same purpose of funding future Hive Developments.
- Censorship Resistant - Both chains are censorship resistant but just recently, Steemit Inc. has removed some posts on the UI side of its front-end, Steemit That move alone goes beyond its core values of freedom of speech. Hive will never do that kind of thing though the future is uncertain. Who knows?
- Interactions and Blockchain Transactions - In the long run, there will be more engagements in Hive than Steem. Major communities and investors already expressed their strong support for Hive and will never go back to Steem. And majority of steem users before, are powering down their stake to zero.
- Market Capitalization - As of March 30, 2020, Hive has a current value of $0.235 while Steem is at $0.148. Clearly, a lot of users are in favor of Hive from the start. There’s a high demand despite that only Bittrex and Ionomy exchanges are supporting it. There is also a big chance that more exchanges will do the same in the future.
