To start with the transformation, use a filter to sterilize, to enlarge and inflame the image, from that process it occurred to me to create as a kind of new animal.

Then continue with sharp edge filter, to make a little difference.

Crop the image to get the shape and create the shape, repeating the same shape, and creating the desired shape.
