I stumbled over this initiative and I hope I am not too late for an entry. A lot has been going on here without my knowledge because of my inefficient gadget.
But I hope in no time I will be able to purchase a new gadget for my Hiveing journey, that's a target I am challenging myself to by the beginning of the next month after our quarantine period.
The first truth I want us to know about this quarantine period is that, if at the end, we all come out without a new or developed skill, idea, talent, knowledge etc then it actually means we didn't lack the time to achieve or accomplish all those but rather we lacked discipline.
Its true we all had our various and diverse engagements in life, some of us it might be our work, some school, some business and lots more. We were always busy at one point in our lives and this was always a perfect excuse. We had always find ourselves being busy, most of us even when we had the least time to do or try something new, we can't because we had already configured our minds to be BUSY with NO TIME.
But now! Can we still say the same thing? We are being lock out of our works, academies, businesses, associations, events and lots more.
Can we now say we are busy without any time?
Now that we can't go out but rather stay home and indoor, what have we done to develop something new or improve a stagnant skill, idea or even knowledge.
So we see that if after this whole lockdown thing we come out without any improvement or development then it therefore means we didn't lack TIME but DISCIPLINE.
Thanks to @blocktrades for this initiative to help us checkmate our lives, our goals, our targets and our achievement in this quarantine and lockdown period.
Firstly it pains me that one of all the most thing I wanna improve and work on during this quarantine period which is PIANO TRAINING is out of reach, like I have no access to a keyboard at home to do that being that my only source and access of a keyboard was in my local church where I go there from time to time to practice and rehearse.
I would have love to enlist my piano training as one of the thing I am currently working on to improve during this quarantine period but now I can't cause I have no access to it. But that will be worked on later on, let's see other things I can improve while staying at home. Though I might have access to piano or a keyboard but at least I have access to other things
Books: Improved my reading culture "I finished a 400pages in 3days"
I am not really a type that walks to a bookshop to buy a book.
This doesn't mean I hate books.
But I didn't train myself to channel my resources to buying books.
But mind you, I don't see any useful books and bypass it. In one way or the other I always have a way of getting the book and reading it, either by lending, borrowing and most times they come like a gift and most times I take it from my sister's library.
Having access to lots of books and having the time to spend at home, I find myself improving my reading culture.
I never saw it as a target but then I found myself reading through a book with 400pages in just 3days.
That's something I would have never done had we not had this lockdown.
And with this, I go the extra miles to do more and gain more knowledge.
Writing Skills
For sometimes now, I had abandoned my act of writing poems and fictions. All in the name of not having the time, even when I tried doing that it seems as if I have lost my inspiration somehow somewhere. So I always come up with this excuse each time my mind ask me "Why aren't you putting down some poetic lines"
The answer is always "NO INSPIRATION"
But now I discover that was a big fat lie, it just that I lacked discipline, cause I remember many times, that I always had this lines dropping or a poetic topic but I never discipline myself to sit and combine everything together and come up with a piece.
So with this lockdown and quarantine period, I am going back to my abandoned skill. And this time I believe I will come out with something better and more unique than what I left off.
Below is the first rhyming piece I came up with while sitting on my desk yesterday and gazing into space thinking about my spiritual life
Would you please listen to my favorite song
I have tried to capture your attention by singing for long
I go on my knees each time I discover my wrongs
Only to find out you were with me all along
Oh Lord I wanna see your face
Come fill this empty space and stay
Help me on this glorious race
As I strife each day to keep up the pace
Kept strong and alive by grace
If the source of life is to stay connected to God
Then Lord may I not be neglected
Less I become dejected
In a world I've been rejected
As I live to please you so as to be accepted
ArtWork (drawing, painting, tracing)
This is another skill I wanna improve during this quarantine period. I have never had a real tutorials on drawing and how to make an artwork perfect and more real or to make a portrait of someone and bring out the resemblance of that person, this has always been a challenge to me and I am hoping to work on it. Although I haven't had a tutor yet on that but I am hoping to get one soon, since I discovered its an inborn skill I should or need to work on. I've always loved drawing and painting since from my childhood and I derive this joy if at the end I am able to paint or draw something beautiful and stunning. I admire artworks a lot, though its may not be my field or line of study but I just can't keep my eyes off any art piece.
I am trusting and believing to work and improve this skill too. Below is the cross section of my non-professional works.
Dieting
You might laugh so hard with this, it might not really be something that will be of any use to others but it is to me because it's all about my system, my body, my health. I am watching my diets everyday since the lockdown.
It had always been a difficult thing for me to drink water and by that I mean a good quantity of water. Even after a particular meal, I find it very difficult to drink water. My mom always complain a lot about this my habit of kissing water rather than drinking a good amount and a really close friend usually tease me about not knowing how to hydrate my system.
This quarantine period has really helped me watch my diet and balance it in the right proportion. My target is to drink 2litres of water per day and I've really been sticking to it and working that out.
Baking
Wow! Wow! Wow! I love cakes, desserts and small chops but what I am really taking time to advance in is baking of cakes. I went for a training which lasted for just a month and we know that when it comes to things like this, all the ideas and skill you need in this field cannot be acquired in just one month, you may be able to acquire part but not all.
This a skill I am currently working on, and by the time the lockdown is being called off, I must have been able to come up with my own recipe, methods of baking and designing and lots more. Thanks to quarantine period I have a lot of skill to work on.
I would love to mention others but I will rather leave this few here, and take everything one at a time.
I have the privilege of accomplishing some if all not of my laid down targets and I am working towards it
I had already startoff most of the thing I have written down, this is why I am mostly excited about this contest; I will be sharing my progress and results sooner or later
