INTRODUCTION

Hello steemians, greetings to you from Nigeria. How's the weather over there? We are in rainy season here.
In this post, I will be sharing with us how you can actually frost your cake without stress.

FROSTINGS

There are different frostings that are used for covering cake. It includes buttercream, royal icing, fondant, meringue, whipped cream and whipped ganache .

MAKING BUTTERCREAM

For this frosting,I used the buttercream.

RECIPE
Butter 300g
Icing Sugar 1kg
Water 4 tbsp
Flavour : vanilla/ butterscotch extract ½tsp
white vinegar ½tsp(optional)

First step
Measure butter into a dry clean bowl and cream till butter is soft and light. You can use spatula or handmixer.

Second step
Sift icing sugar into a dry clean bowl.
Add to creamed butter gradually and gently mix in.

Third step
Add the water and mix

Fourth step
Add flavour and mix.
Also add white vinegar if you want and mix. It's optional. I use it because it helps to keep the frosting a bit dry to touch,so it doesn't get messy especially when in transit.

NOW Your buttercream is ready. Let's begin frosting!

For this, you will need

Piping bag
Coupler
Decorating Comb
Small offset palette knife

Nozzles (optional, except for designs and writing)

Before I frost, I usually crumbcoat. This is optional except you want to go pro.😊.

Basically, once you have your cake ready and it has cooled, you can begin frosting.

Frosting takes two major steps: applying the cream and smoothening it out

Below is how to easily achieve that without stress and without creating mess.

STEP 1

Get a piping bag ,put in a coupler. Cup it in your hand as I did it below,to prevent mess.

And Scoop handful of buttercream and twist the end.

STEP 2

Using a kind of zig-zag way , apply the buttercream to the side of the cake

You can also apply it round like the way I did this one👇

IMG_20210331_100216.jpgusually do this for a small cake or when combining colours or ombre design

And For the top, apply in a circular way

STEP 3

Grab your offset palette knife and smoothen the top.

STEP 4

Get your decorating comb. Using the smooth side, smoothen the side of the cake.

IMG-20210419-WA0044.jpg the comb wasn't showing here,so I used this 👇to show it, it's the same way.
