It is a common perception that a vegan meal is a healthy option, yes it is always healthy for our environment and animals but sometimes not so good for our health. Comparatively, non-vegan is not at all healthy in any way.
Here I prepared a north Indian traditional meal Bedmi Poori and Aloo Curry, it is a type of fried wheat bread contains Urad Dal (black lentil) and some spices wheres Aloo Curry is spicy potato curry. This combination is so satisfying for hunger and delicious.
It is easy to prepare also so anybody can prepare even who are trying to make it the first time.
Ingredients required for Bedmi Poori
- Whole wheat flour 2 cups
- Urad Dal (Black gram skinless) 1/4 cup
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Vegetable oil for dough 1 tbsp
- Spices like Red chilli powder, Green chilli, Asafoetida, Coriander powder, Turmeric powder, Fennel seeds etc
- Salt to taste
- Water
Procedure
- Soak Urad dal for few hours
- Add all spices and make a smooth paste
- Add to flour and make a hard dough by adding water slowly.
- Rest it for half an hour before making Pooris.
- Heat oil for frying.
- Make round shape pooris and deep fry in the oil.
Ingredients for Aloo Curry
- Potatoes 3-4 nos big to medium size
- Spices like Red chilli powder, Green chilli, Asafoetida, Coriander powder, Turmeric powder, Raw mango powder, Cummin seeds, Mustard seeds etc.
- Oil 2 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Water as required
Procedure to make Aloo Curry
- Boil potatoes and remove skin
- Heat oil in a heavy bottom pan or Kadhai
- Add spices one by one and saute.
- Crush potatoes and add in it.
- Add sufficient water to make it juicy.
Once both are ready serve hot with onion rings and salad of your choice.
