Home Made "Palitaw"-A Pilipino Native Kakanin

Palitaw is a native and popular rice cake or "kakanin" of Filipinos. This rice cake is made up of malagkit or sticky rice that is washed and soak with water and then grounded or pounded. Preparing this kakanin is so easy. We just need the following ingredients.

• commercial malagkit rice or you can use a glutinous rice flour.
• sugar
• coconut flakes
• water

So here is the steps in preparing palitaw.

First, mix the malagkit flour with small amount of water.
While mixing, prepare on the other side a casserole of hot or boiling water or use the rice cooker.

Second, get a small amount of mixture and mold it to flat round.

Put the rounded mixture of malagkit into the casserole.

The mixture will immediately sink and when it is cook already it will float.

Third, get the palitaw out of the casserole.

Put some sugar and coconut flakes and serve.
