Hello fellow steemians. Today I am excited to share with you a recipe on how to prepare a Nigerian dessert called Moin Moin.
Moin-Moin is a protein-rich Nigerian steamed bean. It is mostly prepared in the southern part of Nigerian, the Yoruba land. It can be eaten with porridge, tea or only it, as a dessert. It is mostly called ”Alele” by yorubas.
Main Ingredients used
Beans
Fresh or dried pepper
Oil
Onions
Fish
Procedure for making moin moin
1.First wash and peel the black eyed-beans by pounding the beans. It makes the black eyed-beans easy to peel off.
2.Add fresh pepper, onions, and blend it together with the beans with a blender or grinding mill . Blend it till it is very smooth.
3.Put your ingredients such as fish, red oil or groundnut oil( any of your choice) . Here I used palm oil. Maggi, salt . You can also add vegetables like green pepper, spring onions.
4.Stir everything together to make it uniform.
5.Tire them in small rubbers. You can always use milk tins or suitable small containers to be able to get a nice shape. Get a lead to cover the containers so water will not penetrate inside. I didn’t have containers,so I tired them in rubbers instead.
6.Put it on the fire for it boil . It shouldn’t boil too much, it could burst some of the moin moin in the rubber. It should boil for half an hour or forty-five minutes.
7.Finally it is ready. Serve on a plate and it’s ready to eat. You can slice them into smaller pieces. You could also leave as it is and cut it while you eat.
Thank you for reading through. I hope my recipe would be off great help to you. Stay blessed.
