THE EMPEROR FROM THE DREAMLAND! (Improvised black rice recipe!)

in hive-148497 •  4 years ago  (edited)

Greetings Steemfoods!

Boy, am I excited to share this one with you!
It’s something that I had to come up with, based on what I had available at home
and I’m not at all disappointed by the end result!

So without further ado I present to you:
The black rice from the dreamland recipe!

Preparation time: 40-60 minutes

The Ingredients:

  • 1/2 a cup of black rice (or 50-70g)
  • 1 small red onion
  • 1 carrot
  • 1/2 of a lemon
  • 1/3 of a vegetable bouillon cube
  • 80-100g of chickpeas
  • 7 regular field mushrooms
  • A bit of sesame oil
  • A bit of butter

The amount of products are for only one serving, because this recipe is a gift specially for you!

The preparation:

  • First of all you need to rinse your rice a bit with cold water.
  • Then you want to cut your carrot into medium sized half-rings.

    (Like this.)

  • Next comes the red onion

(I prefer it cut into larger pieces.)

  • Cut up your mushrooms after that as well.

(Everything is better when prepared in advance!)
  • For a cup of black rice it’s 2 ½ cups of water!
So for example, if you put in 50grams of rice, measure around 125grams of water.
Then in a little pot heat the water just until it reaches a boil, then stop it and add 1/3 of the vegetable bouillon, stirring it until it dissolves!
  • In the pot you will use for your rice, put in a bit of sesame oil and butter and then the rice itself!
Sautee for a bit, then add the bouillon water.
Lower the heat to medium and leave it for about 20-25 minutes.
(After there is just a little water left, remove from the stove and let sit with a lid on for 10 minutes.)
  • In the meantime you want to put in your carrot in a different pan/pot
with some sesame oil and butter.
    Sautee a bit.
It works really good if you put in a small amount of the chickpea water in as well.
(if you are using canned chickpeas)
  • After the carrots soften a bit, put in the red onion.
  • Steam the vegetables by putting a lid on top, and keep the heat on low.
(Most food becomes tastier when cooked in lower heat!)

  • There should be almost no chickpea water left, so now you can put in the mushrooms!

The mushrooms will let out their own water so you want to keep a lid on (but not fully) and steam them as well.
But before you do, here is the moment you want to add your spices of choice .
I usually cook with a lot of spices, but in a big exception, for this recipe I used only salt and black pepper! And really this is all this meal needs!

  • Keep an eye on your rice

  • Lastly, after the mushrooms become darker in color and actually edible (Don’t be afraid to test try!)
    Put in the chickpeas.

Stir your ingredients for about 5 minutes and you are done!

  • Now take a few lemon rings and cut them up into pieces
(Just like this!)
  • Now finally, check your rice and if everything is fine, simply combine the contents of your two pots and just place your lemon pieces on top!
  • Enjoy the rich taste of your freshly cooked meal and revel in its exotic and spontaneously created essence!

I really hope you enjoy this one Steemit friends, because the inspiration for it came directly from my heart and it was a great joy for me to prepare it and share it with you! : )
