Meet again with me @fitriafifa, precisely on Sunday, April 08, 2022. Today is still the atmosphere of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, and some people in the province of Aceh, Indonesia have returned to their usual activities.

Well friend Steemians, this time I will share one of the cake recipes besides being delicious and tasty, this cake is also typical of the Aceh region. Timphan or timpan cake is a traditional Acehnese cake. This cake is a market snack that the Acehnese enjoy while drinking coffee. Generally, every coffee shop in Aceh sells timphan, as a typical and traditional snack. The shape of this cake is flat, long and wrapped in young banana leaves. The taste is very delicious and soft when chewed in the mouth.

Timphan is a typical Acehnese cake made from rice flour, coconut milk, banana and a number of other ingredients, wrapped with banana shoots and steamed. Timphan is only found in Aceh or among Acehnese overseas. Timphan is considered mandatory as a special dish during Hari Raya in Aceh. This food or culinary is usually served when entertaining guests and also at the celebration of certain days among the people of the province of Aceh, Indonesia.

There are many variations of the Timpan cake filling, depending on taste. If you want to enjoy Timpan cake, you don't have to go all the way to Aceh. You can make this cake yourself at home. Friends of Steemians, how to make timphan is very easy, and delicious on the tongue, timphan is a favorite food during Eid or for certain events. And this is specially prepared, it can be processed by home production and also ordered from specialty and traditional culinary shops.

Materials used:

  • 500 grams glutinous rice flour
  • 1 comb plantain
  • 1 piece of young coconut
  • 250 grams of sugar
  • salt to taste
  • 4 banana leaves (for wrapping)
  • right amount of oil
  • 3 red onions
  • 4 pandan leaves
  • 5 tablespoons thick coconut milk (kanil)

Steps to make coconut core:

  1. Cook the grated coconut.
  2. Then add sugar and salt to taste. Then stir evenly until cooked

Steps to make coconut stuffed timphan:

  1. Prepare the glutinous rice flour, salt, and banana, all of these ingredients are then stirred until they are chewy. Also add enough coconut milk to make the dough soft.
  2. The plantains are mashed until smooth and then put all the mixture on the ingredients above evenly. Make sure the dough can be shaped because it is used as a skin.
  3. Prepare young banana leaves with the size you want.
  4. Grease the inside with vegetable oil that has been mixed with shallots so that they are not sticky and smell good. The skin dough is laid out on the leaves.
  5. Then it is made lengthwise and inside it is filled with grated coconut. Then folded and rolled.
  6. The contents can be replaced with srikaya (according to taste). do it repeatedly until all the dough runs out,
  7. Then this dough which has been wrapped in banana leaves will be steamed (boiled without soaking water).
  8. At least the time it takes is about 45 minutes. After cooking, remove from the steamer and cool. Then the Timpan cake is ready to be served, Enjoy the typical Aceh Timphan cake.
