Good evening potential steemians!
Guess what I found today, after many days of searching in my area. My favorite chopp's, we call it Akuebe in our native language.
Seeing it on my way back home today, I have no reason not to stop and buy it in quantity.
This is barely one week that I have been in search for this favourite eatery of mine. Is very delicious If prepared very well.
Is a flying insects that is mostly seen during rain season. It is attracted by light, especially at night.
I can remember vividly last three years, me and my sister trapped this insects in our house.
We did it by bringing a very big basin, filled half of the basin with water and set it under an energy bulb that is 4 yards above the ground.
We did that in the night and went to bed, when the day broke and we came to see what our trap got for us. To our greatest surprise, the basin has been filled with this insects and you should have seen the kind of Joy that we experienced that day.
We might be asking what the water does? The water is the trap itself, when the insects start flying around the bulb (because is the light that attracts them), the bulb having been heated hurts the insects when they gets close to it and they fall and falls into the basin of water.
Knowing that insects can't fly when their wings are wet, they remain trapped in the water till the next morning.
My sister have to prepare the stuff by frying it with vegetable oil and adding it Salt, Onion and fresh pepper for taste.
I like eating aku, its nutritious
