My favorite festive salad
These are holidays, days of celebration, they are days in which we must thank God for the miracle of life, to be alive, healthy and in family union. That is why we dedicate these days with dedication and love in preparing some special menu to celebrate.
I am Venezuelan and it is a tradition for us to celebrate Christmas and the New Year with our typical Christmas dish, which is the traditional "hallaca", which we accompany with hen salad, pork leg and ham bread. However, although I respect this tradition on Christmas Eve, I like to vary the menu for the New Year's Eve dinner, so I usually bake the pork leg and accompany it with my favorite salad, it is a salad that stands out for its sweet, salty and smoky flavor.
This salad is the favorite of everyone in my house, and although it is very easy to prepare, we only make it at Christmas time, because its flavors and colors always evoke Christmas. It is made with white cabbage, purple cabbage, smoked ham, pineapple and raisins. It is undoubtedly an exquisite explosion of flavors on the palate.
I will now share with you the step-by-step recipe of this delicious and special salad so that you will have the opportunity to prepare it at home, and then you will understand why it is my favorite festive salad.

To begin with you must wash the white cabbage and the purple cabbage very well by submerging them in a little water with vinegar. After this, we must cut it very finely as to prepare the classic coleslaw.
Likewise, we must cut the smoked ham and pineapple into small squares.
We put all the ingredients in a salad bowl and prepare the dressing for our delicious salad.
To prepare the salad dressing just mix very well the mayonnaise, greek yogurt, lemon juice, sugar or honey, mustard, and season with a touch of salt and pepper to taste.
Now all that remains is to add the dressing to our salad and integrate it very well with the rest of the ingredients. Later, we take the salad to the refrigerator and let the flavors permeate.
The ideal is to prepare the salad a couple of hours before eating it, as this way the flavors are intensified.
I invite you to prepare it and enjoy a salad as fresh as it is delicious, in which the smoky flavor of the ham, the sweet and sour taste of the pineapple and the sweetness of the raisins, become the perfect companion for that special celebration meal.
