Hi Steemit Food Lovers,
There is a saying as Sunday is a Fun day. I too had a very exciting day so far. I hope you all are also enjoying the weekend. Now I will share how my day was spent in the kitchen and what I prepared for my meals.
Morning : Breakfast Time
Like any other morning during this pandemic, today also I woke up late. After getting out of the bed around 7.30am, I went to the kitchen to prepare the most traditional and celebratory meal for all Sri Lankans. That is Milk Rice.
Preparing milk rice is not that hard. It's one of our favorite and we eat milk rice at least once a week. To accompany the milk rice I have prepared stir-fried Maldives fish too.
Now I will show you how I made it.
These are the Ingredients I have used.
- 02 cups red rice
- Water
- Thick Coconut Milk - 2 cups
- Salt to taste
- Maldives Fish
- Onions
- Chili Flakes
- Turmeric powder
- Tomato
First, I have washed red rice thoroughly and cooked the rice in medium flame with adequate amount of water. Then I have added Coconut milk and salt as per my taste to the rice. Then I mixed it on low flame about 05min and the milk rice is ready!

Evening: Dinner Time
For the dinner I wanted something light weight. So, I prepared a Sri Lankan style stir fried noodle.
This is not the instant noodle like Maggie. We cook this as we like with our spices. It make more authentic taste.
Preparing it rather easy than cooking rice. I boiled the noodle for about 05 mins and strained it after. Then I stir fried the spices along with the vegetable and made a mixture to mix to the noodle. In low flame I mix everything about another 05 minutes. As a final step I added 2 eggs. Done! Dinner is ready.

- Grated Carrot
- Finely Slice Leeks

Lovely food! These recipes remind me of a time I was in India, some years ago. My husband was on a Panchakarma and while he rested at home (on a fast!! :)) )he was watching a cook's show on tv all day. He was from Sri Lanka and your food reminds me of his doing. His name was Peter Kuribita if I'm not mistaken. Keep it up! Great post.
