Hi steemians, i want to teach you how to prepare Kekefiyai, a delicacy that is very nutritious and it is a local delicacy among Bayelsa people of Nigeria.
INTRODUCTION
Man has always exhibited a unique survival instinct through his continuous affinity to search and discover foods. Food has been defined as any edible substance that provides the required nutrients necessary for the proper functioning
of the body. It has also been described as any substance that gives energy to the body, promotes growth, and repairs worn out cells when ingested, digested and assimilated.
INGREDIENTS OF KEKEFIYAI
-10 unripe plantain
-ground crayfish(about a cup)
-Red pepper(to your taste)
-seasoning cubes
-palm oil of about 15cl
-ground uziza seeds
-dried or smoked fish
-unshelled snails
-salt
-scent leaves
STEP 1
Set your cooking pot on the heat, add a cup of water or two, add the washed dry fish, crayfish, red(palm) oil, pepper and a seasoning cube.
STEP 2
Allow to boil before adding the sliced unripe plantain.
If you are cooking keke fieye with beans, you would need to start cooking with the beans, you cook until the beans is 80 percent before adding the plantain and then crayfish, dried fish etc.
Cook till the plantain and the beans is almost soft enough for consumption.
When the water is dried (you can add more water), taste for salt, add more if its not enough.
Then you can add the snails.
Cover and cook the for ten minutes before adding the sliced scent leaves.
The scent leaves should cook for about five minutes before you serve the food. You can serve hot or cold.
After cooking, allow to cool for about 30minutes. It can be prepared with chicken.
Keke fieye, the ijaw food can also be served with a soft drink of choice.
Oh. I'm always in for the food. It made me salivate but I won't get and eat. I will have to try the recipe at home😍
Thanks for the education. All the best.

This is truly nutritious from main looking at the ingredients in preparation of Keke fieye.
Your explanation is well detailed for even a learner like me whom have never heard about this food.
I'm going to ask my cousin who is married to an ijaw man to know if she had ever eaten this delicious delicacy.

I love this delicacy, and I think we here in Ibibio prepare it the same way. You guys have plenty sea food to play with; here tho, we fancy bush meat of available of cow tendons. Works well too with goat head. And utazi leafs is the icing on the cake for us. 😂😂😂 Don't worry maybe someday I'll post our version of this unripe plantain delicacy so you copy and try the recipe.

Gosh this looks so yummy!!! I love snails but normally we only eat them the French style, with garlic butter and brown bread fingers.
Thank you for sharing your recipe with us.
