SteemFoods Contest-23 | Homemade Delicious Ice Cream Recipe | Green Tea, Avocado with Chia Seeds Low-Calorie Ice Cream Recipe

in hive-148497 •  3 years ago  (edited)

Holla, Buenas Diaz! It's summertime here in Japan and one way of cooling down ourselves is to have a cup of ice cream. I am glad to share with you my diet ice cream or I call it “low-calorie ice cream.” Some ice cream that is being sold in the market has high calorie and sugar content. It is not advisable for somebody like me who is suffering from Hyperglycemia (High Blood Sugar). As advised by my doctor I need to count my calorie and sugar intake. So, I prefer to make my own recipes and if ever I am in a restaurant I will always ask for healthy foods and beverages.

It is timely and relevant to join this contest and to share my “low-calorie ice cream recipe”. I came to an Idea to have this recipe because I tasted this kind of ice cream in a famous restaurant here in our place. They use green tea and avocado as their main ingredients. As we all have known that green tea and avocado are good for our health and it has almost zero calorie content.

Let me start by preparing all the utensils,

I am using my Magic Bullet mixer, spatula, large bowl, hand blender whisker, ice cream scoop.

Here are the low calorie ingridients,

2 sachet of green tea

2 small size avocado

2 cups of low-fat milk

1 pack of zero-calorie sugar

2 small boxes of heavy cream

1 tablespoon of chia seeds

Procedures;

  • Cut the avocados in 2 halves.

  • Mash slightly the avocado using the fork and spoon and set aside.

  • In a mixer put in the 2 boxes of heavy cream. Make sure that the heavy cream has to be very cold.

  • Add the two sachets of green tea.

  • Mix it until it will rise and reach this consistency of the cream.

  • Slowly put in the liquid sugar and mix.

  • I already soak these chia seeds in milk for 4 hours and it is already soft. Gently add it to the cream.

  • Mix it well.

  • Add the mixture to the mashed avocado

  • To avoid splatter, slowly whisk the mixture in one direction. Be sure that the mixture will be condensed until it will become fluffy.

  • Place it in a clean container.

  • I sprinkled minced almond as extra toppings. Freeze for at least 6 hours.

  • To serve, thaw the ice cream for at least 10 minutes to soften and to make it easier when you scoop it.
    Serve and have fun!

My Short review of my homemade ice cream,As I open the cover of the container I smell the tangy smell of green tea and the avocado. It is creamy, not too sweet and it has a fine texture. And the taste is almost the same in those commercial ice creams. The only difference is that it is not sweet.

Preparation time has just an hour and I don't spend too much on the ingredients, I only bought the 2 boxes of cream for 6$, 2 avocados for 2$ and the no-calorie sugar for 2$. The total amount that I spend was just around 10$. The other ingredients were my stock at home like the Chia seeds, milk, and green tea.

I choose those ingredients because of their low-calorie content. Research shows that green tea, avocado, and chia seeds will help prevents diabetes and it has antioxidants that lower the risk of cancer. It will also make you feel full longer. I can attest that those research are true because I experienced and enjoys the benefits of it. Usually, that’s what I eat and now I’m losing weight.

When I was in the Philippines my son always ask me to make ice cream, it is very easy. He even helps me while doing it, a perfect bonding for us at the same time. It is better to prefer foods and beverages at home rather than keep on going to the restaurants or bought in supermarkets wherein you spend more. And also you don't know the hidden ingredients on those foods in the market, it may contain ingredients that can harm our health.
