Today, am so happy to participate on this contest because, am going to talk about my favorite traditional dessert known as NKWOBI
But, before i proceed, i must appreciate the hard works of @ngoenyi,@steemfoods and @alikoc07 for bringing this contest.
What is NKWOBI?
Nkwobi is an African traditional delicacy(especially the easthern and western parts) that people mostly enjoy in the afternoon as lunch during work break hours and in the evening during goodtime or relaxation.
TYPES OF NKWOBI
There are 2 different types of nkwobi that i well know.
(1)Nkwobi made with meat(cow leg and tail) preferrably
and
(2)Nkwobi made with unripe plantain(Abirika)and dried fish.
But today, am going to show and talk about nkwobi prepared with unripe plantain and dried fish. So, follow me along as i will detail its ingredients and preparation procedures.
INGREDIENTS
(1)UNRIPE PLANTAIN(4 fingers)
(2)DRIED FISH(2 fishes)
(3)UTAZI LEAF(15 leaves)
(4)RED OIL(as desired or 1 big spoon)
(5)FRESH PEPPER(6 pieces)
(6)ONION(1 bulb)
(7)SALT(to taste)
(8)UGBA(OIL BEAN) ½cup
(9)SEASONING CUBE(1 cube)
(10)WATER(FOR WASHING)
PREPARATION PROCEDURES
First of all, wash and peel off the unripe plantain cover

Then, use kitchen knife to give the plantain some cut on the body and sprinkle salt on it.
Then, place it on a charcoal fire
Turn it after every 2 minutes to avoid burning untill it turns to lightly brown colour.

Then, place it on a plate and set aside
Then, slice your onion and pound along with the fresh pepper

After pounding, keep aside and wash your utazi leaf and slice
sliced utazi leaf
i used 15 leaves of utazi because, the leaves are tiny. But, if its normal size, 7 or 8 would be enough

After slicing, also set aside.
Then place your fish on a plate and remove the bones
Then wash with water and keep in a plate and set aside

Now scoop out the already pounded pepper and onion into a dried pot

Then add red oil (1 big spoon or as desired)
red oil to it
Then add your seasoning cube. As for me i used star maggi but you can make your choice. Any sauce seasoning can go

So now place on fire

Now, divide your ugba into 2 and add half of it to the mixture on fire

Immediately after adding the utazi leaf, bring it down. Now, cut the the already roasted plantain into pieces and place on a plate

Now, place the already made mixture or sauce on top of it
Garnish it with your already prepared fish on top of the sauce. I mean, garnish it with the fish
Then, garnish with ugba
Also garnish with utazi on top of the ugba

And lastly, garnish it with round sliced onion
So, at this stage, your Nkwobi is ready. And you can serve and enjoy it with either soft drink or beer(alcohol).
