#club75 - How to prepare Oha Soup

Good evening friends, thank you all for welcoming me to this awesome community. Recently I went to the market to buy food stuff used to cook "Oha soup" also called "Ofe Oha" by the the Igbo speaking people of Nigeria. In case you need to know the price of food stuff I bought you can check my latest post on "Steem Entrepreneurs". I am happy writing my first official post in the community.

Just like most soup "Oha soup" is named after the Oha leave used to prepare the soup. "Oha leave"with the botanical name "Pterocarpus mildbraedii" and was given an English name "African Rosewood plant." is one of the most famous and loved soup in eastern Nigeria, the soup as you can see below is easy and fast to prepare. The soup is also very much cheaper than other soups in this part of the world.

Oha leave Nutrition Factors

° Calcium: 72 mg
° Magnesium: 28 mg
° Iron: 5 mg
° Fat: 1 g
° Carbohydrate: 8 g
° Crude fiber: 1 g
° Zinc: 3 mg
° Energy: 56 kcl
° Protein: 4 g

Nutrition benefits

° Good for bone health
° Helps in curing in digestion
° Help treat anemia
° Helpful for diabetics patients.

Ingredients Used

° Oha leave
° Stock fish commonly known as "Oporoko" in eastern part of Nigeria.
° Cocoyam commonly known as "Ede" in eastern part of Nigeria.
° Palm oil (Red oil).
° Salt
° Meat
° Water
° Pepper

Step 1:

Put the cocoyam (ede) into your cooking pot, then you are expected to wait until the coco yam boils.

When the cocoyam boils, remove the upper most layers and put the cocoyam into a pounder or mortal, where you pound the cocoyam until it turns like seen in the picture below.

Meanwhile you should wash your meat properly then put the meat into the cooking pot, then add water to steam the meat. When you are done put the meat in much more water than that for steaming the meat then continue pounding the cocoyam until its look like the one below

Step 2:

Add the pounded cocoyam into the pot that contains the meat and water.

Step 3:

Then it's time to start washing your stock fish. Ensure you wash the stock fish well with clean and warm water. Then put it into the same pot containing your supposed boiling soup. Then you are expected to add other spices and ingredients like salt and pepper.

Step 4:

After allowing to boil some minutes, then go ahead to wash and slice the Oha leave into smaller pieces. After slicing pour in the sliced oha leave into the pot.

Step 5:

We are done cooking, so our food is ready to be served with either wheat flour, Cassava flour or pounded yam.
