PANCIT (BAM-I)

This will be my first entry in the Steem Foods Community and I am excited to share with you this dish. Pancit (Bam-i) is a well-known dish here in the Philippines. It represents the longevity of life as said by the saying, "pampahaba ng buhay" or "to have a long life" in English.

To create this mouthwatering dish, the following ingredients must be present:

  • 3 pcs. of Onions
  • 3 cloves of Garlic
  • 2 pcs of Carrot
  • 3 pcs of Red Bell Pepper
  • 2 pcs of Spring Onions
  • 1/4 kilo of Pork
  • 1/4 kilo of Pork Liver
  • 1 sachet of Chicken Cube
  • 1/2 sachet of Flavoring Seasoning Mix (Ginisa)
  • 2 tbsp. of Soy Sauce
  • 3-4 tbsp. of Liquid Seasoning
  • 1 whole Cabbage
  • 250g of Pancit Canton (Pasta)
  • 100g Sotanghon (Pasta)
  • 6-7 cups of Water
  • 2 tbsp. of Oil
  • Salt to taste

Once everything is prepared, you can now start cooking the dish.

STEPS:

1. The first thing you need to do is to stir-fry garlics and onions. The desired color of onions is golden brown.

2. Once the golden brown color of onion is attained, you can now add the 1/4 kilo of pork. (I apologize for the blurry photo😂)

3. Add the 1/4 kilo of liver and the chicken cube. (Another blurry one 😂)

4. Add 3-4 tablespoon of liquid seasoning.

5. Then, add half of the sachet of the flavor seasoning mix.

6. Add 6-7 cups of water. Also, add salt as it is boiling depending on your preferred taste.

7. While waiting for it to boil, add 2 tablespoon of soy sauce to the sotanghon. (Blurry again 😂)

8. When it boils, add the canton by breaking it apart so that it will not be too long. Also, add the sotanghon and the cabbage.

9. Lastly, use another ladle or spatula to easily mix everything. After mixing it, wait for the canton to be cooked.

After being transferred to another container, garnish the Pancit (Bam-i) with spring onions to make it even more aesthetic.

And here is the finished product!!
