Dan wake is a delicious meal that is indigenous to the northern Nigeria. The meal is rich in protein, Vitamin C , it also contain other nutritional elements such as alpha and beta carotene, potassium, calcium and many more.
Actually Dan wake is tasteless just like fufu meals but it is served with ground chilli pepper (yaji), you can also use Suya Pepper, hard boiled eggs, sauteed vegetables, onions, cabbage, tomatoes, and you can even see some people crush stock cubes and sprinkle on top.

Cooking procedure
Step 1
Mix the beans flour together with the all purpose flour in a clean bowl.
Step 2
Now start adding the potash liquid into the bowl containing the flour and the beans powder mixture, mix using your hands till you achieve a thick dough, and add small quantity of water and mix it well.
This is my soft dough
Step 3
Add some water into a clean pot, set your fire and allow the water to boil and while it's still boiling use your hands to scoop the dough making small dumplings. Keep scooping and throwing the dumplings into the pot of boiling water. The balls should be small in size so that it the mixture will be cooked well.
Step 4
Now after throwing in the dumplings Allow it to cook for 30mins. After 30mins drain the dumplings in a Siever and pour it into a bowl of cold water. Drain it from the water using the siever and set aside.

Step 5
Add your oil into a clean frying pan then allow the oil to heat small then add the slide onions and allow it to fry small, to give the Dan wake a sweet taste. Then set aside.
Note
You can serve your Dan wake without frying any of your ingredients and it will still be yummy, it's depends on how you want it.
Step 6
Now put your Dan wake into a clean plate, and serve it with the desired amount of chilli peppers (yaji), oil mixed with onions, tomatoes.
Now my Dan wake (son of beans) is ready, many people like eating there Dan wake with spoon but as an African woman I prefer using my hands it makes it more delicious and yummy 💃💃💃😁😁
