Today is the much-anticipated momentous day when Nigerians elect the country's next president. We have three capable individuals running for president from various political parties.

The election has received widespread attention on social media, the campaign has been dramatic, and it appears that the youth of Nigeria have chosen the candidate they think would do the most to improve the nation's position. I have carefully examined the backgrounds of the three strong prospects. The Labor Party (LP), the People's Democratic Party (PDP), and the All Progressives Congress (APC), respectively, are three political parties that these three capable candidates belong to. They represent the three major tribes in Nigeria, the Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba.

I've been spreading the word and urging people to demonstrate in large numbers to exercise their civil rights as a decent citizen of my nation. I got ready so early to be in line because I didn't want to wait around for too long, even though the voting period today starts at 8 a.m. The Inec officials showed up within schedule, and I quickly cast my ballot for my favored candidate.

Most of the youths, based on what I have observed thus far and after today's update on the voting, are without voter identity cards (PVC). In short, they are merely internet supporters who are not acting physically. I wonder how we intend to make the change we so desperately want to happen. Many people were hesitant to obtain voter registration cards, but now they are demanding change. Although I am not entirely satisfied with what I have learned so far, I can only put my faith in God for a better Nigeria.

By exercising my civil rights, I have done my part; no man or woman can buy me out of my decision.

According to reports, some polling units became so raucous as thugs were causing trouble; all of these things were predicted anyhow. We are in Nigeria. Nonetheless, I am confident that all will work out in the end. Considering the current state of affairs, I had the thought, "What if the Steem blockchain was utilized in the general election?" Here are some of the reasons I think the Steem blockchain will contribute to a free and fair election.

How The Steem Blockchain Can Help In Providing Free and Fair Election

Transparency: this is one of the biggest features of the Steem blockchain, if the electoral commission can utilize this, votes casted will be accessible and viewable by everyone.

Cost Effective: Running transaction on the Steem blockchain cost zero fee, this will help in minimizing the amount used in running election

Security: this is another huge features of the Steem blockchain, with the security features, citizens are 100% guarantee that data won't be lost, as anything recorded on the blockchain is safe and secured

Immutable: Data cannot be tweak or deleted, with this the chances of election rigging will be less, as anything recorded on the Steem blockchain cannot be deleted and if edited you'll surely be aware and can easily raise questioning on why it was edited.

If there are any Nigerian readers of this post, what's happening in your region? Are you one among the internet supporters or did you exercise your civic rights? Did you vote? And how was the situation in your unit? Lastly, what do you think about the use of the Steem blockchain in the general election?

Hello brother @mato445

My polling unit was peaceful and calm though we experienced delay in the arrival of the election materials

We thank God that at the end we did exercise our civil rights.

Glad to hear this, which part of Nigeria?
