Is being shameless a good thing? (The good and the bad)

Shameless Behavior that is not good

"Molly, Her behavior is simply shameless. I'm at my wits end with her! Jason doesn't know what to do either. He's afraid she's going to run away. She's only sixteen slips out her bedroom window at night and runs around who knows where with who knows who.

I'm afraid she will become pregnant with all her escapades and that will really ruin her life. Finishing high school will be out of the question. Forget college. She's very talented musically and sings beautifully. But she just cannot seem to get it together to behave reasonably.

We've tried everything. Restricting her in different ways. I've sat down to discuss this with her and she denies everything. She becomes angry that I am accusing her of something she isn't doing.

It really is difficult for me raising a step daughter. It's just not the same with her as if I had been her real mother. I think she has some resentment towards me. But what can I do? I am responsible for her welfare.

But this reckless, shameless behavior is not good.

Peter was the life of the party. And was invited to many parties. You never knew what he would come up with in a group of people out to have a good time. He could do almost anything, up to and including standing on his hands and clicking his heels together while whistling a tune. And he didn't even need a drink to do it. It was just his nature. Wild and reckless. But somehow he got away with it. Never hurt anyone. Not even himself and made people laugh and smile. I guess you could say he was a clown.

He was the kind if guy who could tell you to your face that you were fat and ugly and make you laugh. That your dress was disgusting and your hair a mess. Your nose was too long and your eyes were too narrow. Your teeth crooked and yellow and you had bad breath, smile with a twinkle in his eye and then ask you dance.

He could get you a drink and just before reaching you fake a loud sneeze and spill the drink on the floor. Laugh himself silly. And get everyone else to laugh too. While you stood there amazed at his antics. Then he would put his arm around you and give you a gentle hug and side long glance that melted your heart.
