Hello my Fellas Steemians..

Have you ever encountered someone who enjoys talking about one thing but acting in a another way? Yes, that is what is commonly meant to be meant by hypocrisy. Imagine that despite your friend's constant reminders to keep the environment clean, you witness him littering every day. Isn't it irritating?

Hypocrisy makes you feel uneasy and repulsed, much like a foul odor in a public restroom. Unfortunately, we come across these people quite frequently in our daily lives. As an illustration, consider politicians that vow to fight corruption yet are later exposed for embezzling public monies. Consider a celebrity who, although wearing a thick coating of foundation, claims to look natural without it.

Hypocrisy happens not just on an individual basis but also frequently in society. For instance, nations that publicly advocate for global peace but covertly trade arms to exacerbate hostilities. Isn't that ironic?

There are also persons who enjoy discussing the value of tolerance, but who act discriminatorily the moment they encounter members of different groups. Such hypocrisy is as contradictory and perplexing as a layer cake.

So what gives rise to hypocrisy? Perhaps it's the fear of being assessed or disapproved if you disclose your actual state of health. Alternatively, it could be that they are unaware that their words and actions contradict one other. Hypocrisy is undoubtedly bad for interpersonal relationships.

But we are not flawless humans. We can occasionally unintentionally act hypocritically. Being truthful with ourselves and making an effort to maintain consistency in our words and deeds are crucial.

How do we combat hypocrisy?

  1. Let's start by setting a good example for ourselves.
  2. Second, we can gently and politely remind people.
  3. Lastly, let's stop judging people solely based on their appearance and start appreciating differences.

Thus, hypocrisy might be compared to a social virus that can proliferate in any given place. Its negative consequences can be reduced, though, with awareness and focused effort. Let's be sincere and reliable changemakers!

Best Regards
