Dear Steemian friends,
At first, take my cordial salam. This is @nahiansajid from #bangladesh. It's hoped that all of you are well by the grace of omni-merciful ALLAH. I am also great by the grace of almighty ALLAH.
Today, I'm going to take part in a contest in Boylikegirl Club. The contest is titled Should unreliable dreams be discouraged?. It is organized by the honorable @boylikegirl.club . I hope that all of you will enjoy my writing.
Dreams which are unrealistic, impractical, or distant from reality can serve not only as a source of inspiration but also as a distraction, depending on how they are approached. While it is essential to encourage creativity and hope, there is also value in tempering dreams with a sense of reality where disappointment or wasted effort will be avoided. Let’s explore this with a realistic example.
Imagine a young woman named, Sarah. She is always dreamt of becoming a renowned singer, though she possesses no formal training, minimal musical talent, and limited experience to perform. In her childhood, she was captivated by pop stars and imagined herself on stage. Over time, Sarah’s dream grows with more intense. She starts spending hours and hours singing to herself in her bedroom, watching YouTube tutorials, and dreaming of fame. However, her family and friends, who take utmost care for her, notice the gap between her aspirations and her abilities. They gently encourage her to consider more realistic career paths which is realistic and for which she is of enough abilities, like working in marketing or communications, where her strong social skills could help him to shine.
Sarah is initially resistant. She feels the matter deeply that her dream is her purpose, and the idea of abandoning it feels like giving up on herself. However, as time goes on, her realization weaks up that her progress in developing singing skills is slow. There are lackings for the range, and her performances of her voice, though heartfelt, she does not have the polish required to break into the competitive world of professional music. Furthermore, the pressure of chasing this elusive dream, without a clear path or foundation assistant of surroundings, begins to weigh on her mental health.
Sarah’s story is a common one. Dreams to get fame or to succeed in areas that are difficult to achieve often stem from a desire for validation, recognition, or escape from the challenges of daily life. While there is nothing basically wrong with dreaming which is big, it’s essential to assess whether the dream is surrounded in reality and whether the pursuit of that dream is consuming much time and physical and mental energy with minimal progress. If we consider the case of Sarah, pursuing her dream of becoming a renowned singer without having realistic preparation or understanding of the industry, could lead to frustration and burnout.
That doesn’t mean Sarah should abandon her love of music entirely. Instead, she should select a more realistic approach, and with that, she could focus on developing her skills in a way that will match with her abilities. Perhaps she could pursue singing as a hobby, take vocal lessons, or perform in small place or events within community. She could also explore career opportunities in the musical industry which might not involve fame but still allow her to work closely with music, such as music production, event planning, or public relations.
Encouraging Sarah, to refine her dream and to align it with her strengths, does not discourage her ambition but assists her to avoid the trap of pursuing something that might never come up with something fruitful. In this way, unreliable dreams are reconsidered, it can transform into realistic, fulfilling pursuits. Dreams need not be abandoned, but they must be nurtured with self-awareness and practical planning to avoid all sorts of things which cause disappointment and disillusionment.
