Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing great and fine today. I'm here for a good contest from @boylikegirl.club about people who depend on their parents for a living (or are NEETS)?
What is a NEET?
NEET(Not engaged in education, employment or training) is a government word for a person who is young without a job, or doing any form of training for a job or is no longer in school. Some of these people now depend on their parents or people to survive.
For people who depend on their parents for a living, there are certain advantages that comes with this gesture;
- Financial savings: staying with your parents enables you to save. You get to safe money on rent, transportation and rent.
- Time saved: By not worrying about household chores much, you get to save time.
- Healthcare: Your parents can place you on their health care plan and take good care of you when you have health challenges.
- Quality time: Theres enough and to spare time to share with your family.
- Familiarity: In your local area, building a network will be very easy.
- Emotional support: Family bonding time can strengthen relationships and during challenging times, family provides you with emotional support.
Just like there's advantages, there are bound to be disadvantages of depending on your parents for a living.
- Lack of independence: You will be too dependent on your parents for financial and emotional support that it'll be very hard to be fully independent. Also, your parents can restrict your decision-making, personal freedom and that will hinder personal growth.
- Social stigma: There will definitely be societal pressure or stigma that comes with living with your parents as an adult, that will affect self-esteem and interaction in the society.
- Delayed life milestones: Any romantic relationship will be affected as it may be challenging for a partner to navigate arrangements in living. There will be a stagnation in personal achievement as well as personal growth.
- Interpersonal conflict: For an adult, it will be challenging to share space, thereby having no privacy within the household. there'll be differences in lifestyle and that can lead to conflict.
My opinion on people who depend on their parents for a living is that some might be too scared to actually live their life(immaturity) without their parents detecting to them, while some might be due to health challenges and for some, circumstances.
But I'll advice anyone in this category to get out there and live their life without depending on their parents, I know some wish their parents are alive for them to be with them but live your life, check up on and take good care of your parents, don't let it be the other way round.
As they age, they need all the love and care they can get not the stress of having you depend on them.
I would like to invite @josepha, @sojib1996 and @zory23.
