Good luck can be defined in many different ways, and it means something different to each of us. I believe that if we are kind to others, it will bring us happiness in the form of good feelings, positive energy, and smiles. I have a personal story related to this.
When I was working in a store, a little boy approached me and asked where he could find a certain product. I pointed him in the right direction and went back to my tasks. Later, that little boy found me again, smiled broadly, and wished me a nice day. It was just a few words, but they brought me so much joy that I started sharing that joy with customers and coworkers. Surprisingly, everyone returned my smile and positive attitude.
Of course, I realize that I could just as easily have encountered someone who would dismiss my kindness or even insult me. I guess that’s one of the downsides of being kind: you won’t always meet someone who responds positively. After all, we’re all just human. Each of us can have a good or bad day. But should one negative experience stop us from being kind to others?
For me, the mere thought that I might brighten someone’s day, even just one person, is enough of a reason to be kind. Maybe someday I’ll be the one in need of a kind word or a smile, so I want to embody that attitude myself.
Taking the whole context into account, I still believe that kindness will bring you happiness—not in the form of winning the lottery or getting a promotion at work, but in the form of knowing that you’re a good person. Be kind, and it will surely come back to you.
Awesome message. Beautifully written. Kindness is a winner for sure.
