Would you choose to upload your memories to gain immortality?

Humans are the only species on Earth fully aware of their own mortality. The survival instinct is deeply ingrained in every organism on this planet, but we are the ones who experience a conscious fear of non-existence. Various religions, offering us life after death, help us cope with the thought that one day we will cease to walk this Earth, allowing us to focus on the present.

I wonder what transferring memories to achieve immortality could look like, as the concept of eternal life in the context of religion is spiritual in nature. It’s not our physical selves that survive, but the soul, which lacks a material form. In that case, technology would need to provide something more. Transferring memories to another body or device, such as a humanoid robot, perhaps? I believe that simply uploading memories to some unknown cloud is pointless. What’s the use of that if I don’t have a body? Merely recording my thoughts doesn’t make me immortal, at least not in a material sense. If that’s the case, I could already write down my thoughts and memories for someone to read after I die.

So, for me to consider such a step, the technology would have to be advanced enough to replicate my thoughts, experiences, and memories. It would need to recreate my decision-making processes, thought patterns, and personality—essentially all the traits that make me who I am. This could then be transferred into an artificial body where attempts could be made to interact with the real world. It sounds like a great idea for a sci-fi movie, but nothing more than that. I don’t believe such a feat will ever be achievable.

In yiur case it might be interesting to read your brain via the memories to figure out your interest for art. 🤔 next AI can copy your "algorithm".
