In my country Nigeria,
Land blessed with milk and honey.
Greener pastures stretched across the ends of her land
With rivers spread across connecting the nation.
In my country Nigeria,
Land blessed with abundant resources.
East, West, North and South
Filled with diversity of culture
I wish we all live as one.
Nigeria our motherland.
In my country Nigeria,
Land where priorities are been misplaced.
Needs are placed aside for what is wanted.
Only if our eyes could be open.
In my country Nigeria,
It looks beautiful on the outside
But dark on the inside.
Her clouds are dark just the heart of as every man here.
In my country Nigeria,
The sun rises in terror and sets in pain
Because she's sure she had lost a soul to the wickedness her people.
Maybe I'd just skip the moon that is filled with blood.
In my country Nigeria,
Nigeria we hail thee.
The old anthem made more sense
But our flag isn't truthful and injustice now reigns.
Our peace has been exchanged for violence
And every man is oppressed.
We'd gladly hand this bitterness to our children.
A banner covered with stains and blood smell.
In my country Nigeria,
The national anthem is sang without understanding.
I really do wish we can see,
That our fathers have stolen our motherland
The labor of our heroes past now in vain.
One nation bound in tears, violence and chaos.
A nation where the leaders have chosen to guide God
And our youths have willfully ignored the truth.
A nation built on values that is favorable to corruption and injustice.
In my country Nigeria,
The national pledge is recited with no will to do.
Pledges ends in the stomach,
So long as I can feed and oppress my neighbor.
Pledge are been said this way;
I pledge to Nigeria, my country (if she has something to offer)
To be faithful, loyal, and honest (to whatever favors me)
To serve Nigeria with all my strength (there must be something in return)
To defend her unity (only when she is winning)
And uphold her honor and glory (I'd walkaway whenever she falls)
So help me God (to fulfill my wish first)
Amen (even God knows I don't mean it)
In my country Nigeria,
Everyone is struggling, no dulling.
A lot are helpless and homeless but the still have hope.
Believing that one day, they'd find help.
In my country Nigeria,
No one is safe; even safety wants us dead
Police is your friend; they are the Judas Iscariot.
Police should be friendly but their guns threatens us.
They hunt us instead of saving us
Ignore the bribery and cooperate.
In my country Nigeria,
Try not to talk about the Governments
You have freedom of speech; they'd determine your freedom after speech.
They don't follow to lead; they lead to be followed.
Influencers have ceased to speak the truth; all in chase of clout.
In my country Nigeria,
The national symbols have been replaced with crime
And the national ID never represents.
Everyone is a criminal; avoid the court
Settle your case in the police station and you'd be free.
In my country Nigeria,
We are all hypocrites,
Highlighting the Governments mistake and ignoring ours.
This is Nigeria, a sweet home it should be.
We seek change when we haven't changed.
Her greatness depends on you and I.
East, West, North and South can live as one
Only if you accept each others differences.
Let's make Nigeria Great Again.
Let's make Her pride ours.
Happy In-Dependence Day Nigeria!
