With a few warm days, our hollyhocks have burst into magnificent bloom!
These are basically "wild" hollyhocks that came from a packet of mixed wildflower seeds, but they are perfect for our cottage style garden.
A few have grown impressively tall — eight feet, or more — and are blooming out through the top of one of our apple trees!
Most are variations of pink and magenta, but we also have a few white ones.
Even though they are not the "cultivated" variety, they are still very pretty flowers!
They are supposedly annuals but most of these also bloomed last year.
Aside from being really beautiful, hollyhocks are also quite useful plants. All parts of the plant are edible, and they have been used for a variety of ointments, salves and extracts in traditional nature medicine.
Thanks for stopping by and having a look!
