Whatever the trend is, that's what the entertainment will feed us. Lately, my freewrite was abourt revenge, by which the theme of most TV soaps in the Philippines is all about. For sure, such theme also exists in some countries, hence the never-ending violence that are shown in the screen. Those are also the themes of different movies.
Remember when "Twilight" came? Before that movie, for sure vampire-themed movie and series already existed. However after "Twilight", more TV series came out even about falling in love with vampires. It can also be seen in music videos. It's as if vampires are being romanticized.
Superhero-themed movies has been popular in the past but not to the point how it was now. When Marvel created the Cinematic Universe, we have never seen a film from them flopping. DC Entertainment tried out but failed with the Extended Universe. But standalone superhero films were very successful
Live action versions of formerly animated films are also popular nowadays. Those movies are expensive to make, though the story is already there as available from the animated versions. They're bringing us nostalgia? Yes, that's one of the point.
"The Walking Dead" became popular. For sure "Plants Vs. Zombies" also had its effect. Viewers loved the thought of being chased by zombies. Afterwards, there are several films about zombies existed too. Yes, there has been zombie kinds of films before. But such theme became very popular recently.
Whatever clicks for the consumers, that's what the entertainment industry will feed us. But it will be great to see a variety of kinds as there are many people who wants to see something different.
