How to treat bee stings

What do we think when we see someone stung by a bee? Can we provide first aid that we can do when this happens?

When we are stung by a bee, the poison contained in the bee's needle-like tail will immediately react and cause the skin affected by the sting to become red and swollen. If this happens, we must provide appropriate first aid to minimize the occurrence of more serious conditions immediately.

Is it dangerous to be stung by a bee??

Sometimes bee stings can be fatal, depending on the number of bees present at the time we are attacked, but bee stings can result in death, compared to other insect stings. Most of these deaths occur due to rapid allergic reactions and can cause the body's adrenaline to go into overdrive.

However, in reality, a person's reaction to a bee sting can vary, ranging from body swelling to threatening itching. Bee stings contain sharp barbs attached to the poison sac in their tail.

And this poison will be produced in our bodies after the bees land. Allergies to these toxins then cause allergic reactions on our skin and body. When they spread, honey bees leave their stings on the skin and some die when we get stung while the sting sticks to our bodies. In contrast to wasps, ants and scorpions which do not leave their stings.

The result of a bee sting is a heart reaction and the organs targeted are the skin, blood vessel system and respiratory system.

Treating Bee Stings by:

Wash the stung area with soap and water after the sting is gone.
Place an ice cube on the sting every few minutes. Wrap the ice in a cloth to prevent your skin from freezing due to the cold.
The use of pain relievers to limit additional reactions and reduce itching can also be done.
Use pain relievers to manage the pain.
Applying ointment to the sting can help reduce redness, itching and swelling.

If a more severe allergic reaction occurs, use a tool or bandage and compress the stung arm or leg because the stung part of the body or hand cannot be moved. Loosen clothes, if you have to go to the hospital, and give them something to drink first to prevent the poison from interacting with the blood.

Kondisi lainnya adalah saat kita tiba-tiba muntah, posisikan diri agar tidak tersedak. Setelah itu, segera bawa penderita ke rumah sakit. Sebab, pertolongan pertama saat tersengat lebah hanya dapat membantu sesaat. Pemantauan dari petugas kesehatan tetap diperlukan untuk mengurangi risiko kondisi bertambah parah.
