Anytime I hear the word giving, I ask myself a question, why do we give? Is it because of fame or because one day you would need that person’s help or what? Why do we give? In fact, according to the bible, the creator of this universe has greater concern about the poor and the needy. The scripture has made it clear that worshiping God without caring for the poor and the needy is ungrateful, therefore we should always take good care of the poor, provide with them some basic needs if we have the opportunity in doing so. Giving to the poor is the same as giving to God. We must always have compassion for the poor. There are some people in this universe who don’t have compassion and even a little love for the needy. In fact we ought to try with the little that we have.
In every year of this month, Seventh-day Adventist Youth around the world have a special program design to reach the needy and the poor. What we do is, we look at the current trend of the world, then we prepare an item that would suit it and give to the needy.
Last three years was food and water drive so what we did was, we went to the charity homes and gave them fresh fruits, bags of rice, toiletries, etc. Last year because of the pandemic nothing was shared, this year we decided to reach them with PPE’s and a bible literature book because of the Corona Virus.
So the face mask, hand sanitizers and other items was been giving out. In fact, the theme for this year was reaching out and it focus on communities where vulnerable peoples were.
It was very nice and pathetic day to share.
What I have learnt and also observe about giving is that it renewed the relationship you have with God, and also there is more blessing in it. May the good Lord bless us all. Amen!!!
