The international day of the African child is set aside to commemorate the innocent children killed during the Soweto uprising in South Africa in 1976.
On 16 June,1976,nearly 10,000 black students from Soweto South Africa march to the streets to protest the quality of their education.
They marched as a way to demonstrate their disapproval of the black education act which educated students based on their race.

In the two weeks of the protest in Soweto, hundreds of students were killed by security forces while thousands were badly injured.
the 1991 the day of the African child has been celebrated on June 16 to commemorate those killed during the Soweto uprising in South Africa, and to recognise the courage of the student who marched for their rights to a good education.
The day of the African child also an opportunity to raise awareness for the ongoing need to improve the education of children living across Africa. It's a need that still very much exist today.Out of the 57 million primary School age children currently out of school around the world, over have are from sub-saharan Africa.
no progress has been made since the overthrow of writing one in 10 children are still missing from the classroom.
There are many reasons why children are uneducated particularly in Africa.
  1. your friend may not be able to afford the school fees.
2)the distance to the nearest school may also be too far.
  2. early marriage making girls especially, from the classroom.
they say many more barriers to education have an enormous impact on children, especially girls.
girls are team members of society.we ought to understand them better and give them the support they need to achieve their potential.
We must shun discrimination and gender inequality especially towards girls and the females generally.we are all humans with equal rights. So no one is to be treated as an animal or a half human.Whether they are blacks or whites,Africans or Americans or Asians or Europeans, males or females. We are all humans and so, we must be treated with all respect as being equal.Discrimination and gender inequality will take us nowhere.
It should be noted that children especially girls are more likely to become healthy, become dependent and become a force for social change if there are well educated. So why deprive them of the opportunity for education?
Let's drop this Idea of inequality. Why do we preach togetherness and unity, when believe that we are different?
