What exactly is creativity?

The ability to think about a task or a problem in a new or different way, or the ability to use one's imagination to generate new ideas, is referred to as creativity. Creativity allows you to solve complex problems or come up with novel approaches to tasks. When you are creative, you see things from a different angle. You can look for patterns and make connections to uncover opportunities. Being creative entails some risk, but you can demonstrate that you are self-motivated to try things that have never been done before.

Examples of creative abilities

To become more creative in the workplace, you can practice a variety of creative skills. They can be effective when used together to help you think differently about a problem or task. They are as follows:

How to Sharpen Your Creativity

There are a variety of activities and exercises you can try to improve your creativity. These are some examples:

  1. Take on the circle challenge.
Draw twenty circles and time yourself for thirty seconds. Before the timer runs out, turn each circle into a unique picture. This exercise forces you to consider the same subject in a variety of ways. Repeat it on a regular basis to see how your thoughts evolve over time.

  2. Continual reading
Reading is only one form of mental exercise. Exploring fiction novels, for example, can expose you to intriguing creative concepts such as complex worlds, storylines, puzzles, and characters. Using an app on your phone or another mobile device is another simple way to practice mentally challenging games and puzzles.

  3. Compose
At the end of each day, try writing down your thoughts in a journal. Writing forces you to reflect critically on your daily experiences and ideas. Finding ways to apply critical and analytical thinking is an excellent way to strengthen your mental muscles.
