A total of 299 Inmates of the Class II Bireuen Prison received remissions ranging from six months to one month in commemoration of the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia (RI).
The handover of the remission decree was carried out by the Acting Regent of Bireuen, Jalaluddin SH MH accompanied by the Head of Bireuen Prison, Abas Ruchandar and other elements of the Forkopimda.
The granting of the remission is based on the Decree of the Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia Number PAS-1616.PK.05.04 of 2024 concerning the granting of General Remission (RU) in 2024.
The amount of remission received by Bireuen Prison Inmates includes a reduction in sentence of 1 month for 49 people, 2 months for 54 people, then 3 months for 74 people, 4 months for 32 people, 5 months for 19 people and 6 months for one person.
Head of Bireuen Class II Prison, Abas Ruchandar said that the recipients of the remission are inmates who have met the administrative and substantive requirements.
"All recipients of the remission have met the administrative requirements such as having been sentenced and having permanent legal force, having served a sentence of more than 6 months for general criminal cases," he said.
In the remission granting meeting, Acting Regent of Bireuen, Jalaluddin read the speech of the Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia, Yasonna H Laoly, the activity was also attended by the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) and community organizations.
The granting of general remission is a form of state appreciation for Inmates who have committed to following the development programs implemented by the Correctional Institution properly.
