After I made a move to switch career path from Engineering to Accounting, a lot of people who saw me or heard about it acted like I had done something wrong or I had made a grave mistake. Hmm.. See me oo!!
I have seen changes everywhere, so often in my mind, I wonder what makes mine look different. Maybe it's the fact that I had to go back to some reading to move ahead in my new field.
But, it's really no different from a classmate of mine who is now a makeup artist.. You still have to put in the work to progress in your new area.So I would say that career change is very normal.
For a lot of people, their undergraduate days were times of discovery and some where people like me who entered a course because they just wanted enter university and not spend extra years at home.
I practically promised myself I wouldn't write JAMB twice so, I was ready to enter university that year.
And come to think of it, when some graduate, that is when they discover that it's really hard to get job with that course, so a change becomes necessary.
People also grow into new career path as time goes on, maybe because they have reached the peak of the other path or they have lost interest.
If you look around you, you can actually count how many people are doing things that directly relate to their course of study in the university.
So whatever it was that led you to a career change, be bold and stand up in your new field.
Put in what it takes to be a light there...
Give it your best shot...
Be proud of your new field and where you have come from so far...
Do away with the regrets...
Enjoy the growth...
Look around you and see others forging new paths for themselves too and be encouraged...
And one day, your name will be tied to that new field with no one even remembering where you came from.
Drop a comment below, let's see your career change, as far as what you are doing now is not what you directly studied in the university..
You don't know, you could inspire someone who is struggling with the process of changing..
