Installation:
As Surfshark VPN is only available as .deb file, the arch community have worked around it in an AUR package.
Requirements:
To be able to build pacman installable packages from AUR you need the following requirements:
- sudo pacman -S base-devel
- sudo pacman -S git
Building Surfshark-VPN from AUR
Go to surfshark-aur the AUR Package and copy the git clone url.
Now open up a terminal and enter a directory where you want to clone the repository to.
mkdir ~/surfsharkvpn/
cd ~/surfsharkvpn/
git clone https://aur.archlinux.org/surfshark-vpn.git
cd surfshark-vpn/
To install the package collecting all the dependencies needed run:
makepkg -si
Connecting to a VPN Server
Now that you installed the package you can run the following command in your terminal:
sudo surfshark-vpn
If this is your first time, you will be prompted to enter your E-Mail and password.
Next you have to choose a country, you can continue the list by pressing Enter.
Type in the number of the country you want to connect to.
Next select the protocol that you want to use, I use TCP.
Done!
You should now be connected to the VPN-Server. You can check your IP by visitting WhoAmI
Diconnecting from the server
To disconnect from the VPN-Server run the command:
sudo surfshark-vpn down
