The Diary Game || 08-02-2025 || Lending A Helping Hand To An Elderly Couple (Finished Work).

Dear Diary,

Today, I embarked on a rewarding endeavor, dedicating my Saturday to assisting an elderly couple who, despite their passion for farming, struggle to tend to their land due to advancing age. Last Saturday, 👉🏻 Here our small team of three made a valiant effort, but unfortunately, we were unable to clear the expansive plot.

Fortunately, today's outcome was totally different. A group of eight energetic and willing volunteers joined forces, united by a shared desire to lend a helping hand. Together, we tackled the daunting task, and I'm thrilled to report that we successfully cleared the land. I'm eager to reflect on the day's events and write about them in my diary.

I began my day at 6:00 a.m. by joining my family for our daily scripture study. Following our devotional time, I got dressed and set out to meet the elderly couple, accompanied by Kidi40, who had graciously offered to lend a helping hand. En route, we stopped at a quiet, paved road to catch a taxi that would take us to our destination. The transportation fare was 200 naira, equivalent to approximately 0.72 Steem.

After a brief 5-minute drive, we arrived at the elderly couple's residence, where I was pleased to see some of my friends already waiting for us. With no time to spare, we quickly loaded the food we had brought into the car's trunk and set off immediately for the farm, eager to begin our task before the morning sun became too intense.

I offered a silent prayer of gratitude to God Almighty for our safe arrival at the farm, despite a close call with a reckless Keke driver. We arrived at the farm before 8:00 a.m. and, before commencing our task, we ensured that our machetes were properly sharpened. With our tools ready, we divided the land into sections and promptly began clearing the bush, each person taking their assigned position to maximize our efforts.

I took my assigned position and poured all my energy into clearing the dense bush, undeterred by the challenging terrain, which was not only overgrown but also littered with broken blocks. I exercised caution, however, as I navigated the area, mindful of the holes scattered about, which I suspected might be hiding places for venomous snakes or other hazardous creatures.

Working alongside my friends was a truly uplifting experience, akin to collaborating with angels. Their dedication and teamwork made the task enjoyable, and together, we tackled the challenge with ease, our collective effort minimizing the physical strain.

After an hour or so of intense labor, we collectively decided to take a well-deserved break and replenish our energy. The elderly couple had graciously prepared a sumptuous meal of Afang soup with fufu, a beloved Nigerian delicacy. The aroma and flavors of this traditional dish were truly heavenly.

Before partaking in the meal, we ensured we maintained proper hygiene by washing our hands, followed by a heartfelt prayer of gratitude. Savoring the delicious food, we relished the warmth and kindness of the elderly couple's hospitality.

Rejuvenated after our 30-minute rest, we rallied our strength and enthusiasm, ready to tackle the remaining uncleared portion of the land with renewed energy and strength.

With renewed energy, we dove into clearing the remaining portion of the land, which, fortunately, wasn't too extensive. In just under an hour, we completed the task, and the sense of accomplishment that washed over me was immense. Knowing that our efforts would bring joy to the elderly couple made the experience even more rewarding.
